Slate gray/red 66 912.......

These cars are starting to gain traction...would be a great car to restore.
This 912s color combo is similar the slate/red 911 I saw in the Porsche museum.....

That one doesn't look horribly rusty. Shall we guess the final? I throw out, for a good SWB and a great color combo, and not much visible rust:

This is a well-used and not abused early 912. Nothing major is missing and aside from the dash, the interior is in pretty decent shape. It will probably sell really high.

I see someone's weekend car up until the 1980s. Check the tires to see when I was pulled off the road. This car probably sat in a garage for 30 years untouched. No half-ass resto attempts, no miami vice conversions, no aborted restoration after the car is disassembled. Original trim, steel wheels, etc.

It sells for $40k. Restore it for $60k+. Total invested $100k+. Now it's worth $80k. No problem, enjoy it for what it is and 10 years from now....it's worth $100k+.

If I could afford it, I'd be all over it!

Agree on everything but the restored value. It's already 100k finished.

Another plus is that it has a 'Steve McQueen Connection' through its paint color...who knows what the final price will actually be?

Why would it be worth that much more than this Slate Gray 912?

I agree have I missed something recently ..?. has the 3 gauge 912 significantly closed the price gap on its big brother 911... If So would I be right in understanding that early 912 65-66 car is where the next boom will be....

She is not for sale but as I never see data points of these cars:

Can anyone stab at what a 1969 original paint, zero rust, 77k original miles, fully original and complete, 2 owner California car in silver might be worth? Original owner bought new and kept her for 45 years. Documents and papers back top the purchase with the car

I typically don't pay much heed to Hagerty values, but just came from a PCA meeting where a Hagerty rep had the latest guides. FWIW, ranges for 60's 912's are:
Condition 4 - $20,100
3 - $30,000
2 - $41,000
1 - $62,300
The gray/red car is already at $20k so it's going to prove these numbers to be low, but still don't see how it could be a $100K car after restoration.

This is making me think I need to forget about the 993, get a 912 fixer and make some big money! Got my eye one already - what do you all think?

Maybe not. Biding stalled at just over $25K. 912 Market is not quite so red hot as some assume. Hagerty might be right in this case? Porsche 912 RARE Slate Grey Red 'Smatch COA 12 27 65 Prod DAT | eBay

A no sale only tells you that you didn't have two buyers. Nothing more. Could sell privately after the auction and we will never know.
