911 SC value
Hi, I was wondering what you guys thought about this car. It went unsold on EBay for $40,000. Seller did a great job on the car and made a great driver out of it. He said the final bid was $15,000 too light. What say you?

$55k looks a tad dear in my humble opinion. Some of the work done sounds valuable (head studs), and you can sell the 8" fuchs and the momo and recoup some cash, but I see it in the mid $40s maybe.

Is anyone surprised it went unsold at $40K? And he thinks he can get $55?
Based on my ownership, I hope so, but doubt it.

That car is insanely clean. It would have been a steal at $40k.
Have a good look at ALL the flickr photos including the detailed shots of the underside. You could use that car as a reference point for restoration. $55k is not out of line IMO. It's got original paint and only 55000 miles. AND it comes with 7 & 8 fuchs along with the originals. Gorgeous!! PS - No affiliation |

I say $40K should have bought that car. No way it has another $15K of value-added buffing of the Glasurit paint to bring $55K.
He did nothing more than what any other self-respecting new owner of a a SC would have done in the year 2015. This is an old 911. These cars need deep cleaning, deep detailing, and to have all the short comings addressed (studs, tensioners, etc, etc). It's not a special year, not a special SC, and at the end of the day it's red. Nice to see he put Porsche brake pads on it though. He talks and talks paragraphs of details and at the end of the day he changed the oil, changed the brake pads, fixed the studs, buffed the paint, and bead-blasted the fan. No way it warrants $55k and I believe the market has spoken. |

For that price I can buy a G50 with sport seats and similar condition/mileage. Are you getting into 993 money for that price? That's where i have a little trouble with the price. |

But you make a good point. Yes, you can get more car for that kind of money. It just wouldn't be quite as nice, but in the end you might get more enjoyment out of getting bugs and rock chips and putting some miles on it!! |

$55k is strong money for SC. If everything was original and he had all the history maybe he could fetch that... The aftermarket parts take away from asking top $$$ in my opinion.

I believe that car is nowhere near #1. This is a #1 SC:

![]() #1 is concourse. Best in the world. The red car is great. Some non-original parts. Super driver. That is why I was the top bid. I was willing to go higher for the car building in what I think is a few years appreciation. I mean look at this; Not to far off the SC price, from a DEALER, and its an 86 3.2. It is strange how a red Porsche is looked down upon when a red Ferrari goes for a premium .

When I found my SC I was not thrilled that it was red. I had a rosewood targa before. But it was so very clean and ran so great, the red was fine.
It still is..

I'll take red over black any time.

A black SC works if this is the interior - although I may be slightly biased.
