1967 912, supposedly full resto
I know a guy. He has a car, wants to sell. He asked me my opinion, and I told him I'd talk to some guys I know. Well, I know you guys, so...
Let's assume that the car is in good shape (no rust) a good runner, numbers-matching, nice paint, great interior. Let's also assume a color change in the past from Polo Red to Irish Green. Everything stock and/or period-correct. If the money were coming out of your own pocket to buy this car, how much would you spend? If you already owned this car, how much would you ask? |

I just sold the exact same car and struggled to get $24k so that or less.

I think $24 is about right/tad high for the car you describe.

between $20k and $60K. Need more info/pictures. or go look at European Collectibles and see which of their 5 912's approximates the condition of your friends car, then we can discount back for private seller. Way too many variables, your description fits a car I bought a year and a half ago for 14K, a car a friend is about to list (other than the color change) that he is expecting low $40's for. Also describes (other than running) a project I am in the middle of, I'll be looking mid $30's when done. Also know of a really nice car changing hands privately around $60k

I would pay $20.000.00 for it now, if your description is correct. I really would, PM me.
But, I would think that a car like that would sell for 30-35K No rust SWB car without running gear would be 20K, but if it is honestly no rust, jack points, battery box/front pan. head light buckets, floor pans, and chrome with out the Cal. rust blistering, etc. No rust. All the SWB stuff is gold now, deck lid, turn signal lights, gauges, seats, etc. I know, I am putting my rag 912 together, and it would have been waaay cheaper to buy a 20K 912 like you described, but I could not find one and bought a nice tub car, little rust, but missing critical SWB parts. |

I'd pay low 20s for it, and I'm currently in the market for a driver 912. Sent you a PM.
EDIT: Didnt relize the resto was fresh, thought it was a driver quality car. Changed my vote to somewhere in the 30's. Last edited by ShopCat; 12-03-2015 at 06:06 PM.. |

Twenty (or twenties) is just too cheap.
You can see that plenty of buyers will step up for twenties. These are great little cars, and deliver a ton of smiles per miles. I have been offered considerable sums for mine and have yet to part with it. I think the market for a really good correct color, number match car can be over sixty from a private seller. A car like mine (sunroof, great & loaded factory optioned car) has potential to be even higher. ![]() Represent his car properly ~ he could come out well. |

912s are and will always be an acquired taste. The market is out there, you just have to find it. There are probably very few that are as clean as the one above, so there will always be a market for a car like the above. As it being a neat car, yes, but it being a 911, it was never meant to be and isn't.

Verbal money is easily spent.
Actual money is not. I'm thinking mid-$20s. If I owned it, I'd put it up at $28K. Disclaimer: all based on description and not knowing if it has Fuchs, chromies, runs, drives, shifts and stops perfectly, etc.

Thanks man, I need the inspiration. That's enough of a present for me. Really do like your setup though.
