WTB : minimum 2 x Porsche 911 for export

Good day,

Although the USD/EURO is bad now we will visit the States short after new year to buy some cars. I need a 911 for myself (1980 - 1987), a Merc SL 450 for a friend of mine and in order to earn some money back on the roadtrip, and to fill up the container, we are open to buy another 911 or SL (914 2.0 would do as well as long it is restored).

Shall we go to California for our hunt (like everybody ?) or can we increase our chances by choosing another area ? Shall we use local magazines, or craigslist or other sources to find cars ? Ofcourse we will keep an eye on this platform but sales sometimes go so quick that cars are sold even before we have the chance to ask for details :)

Any suggestions ? Anybody available to do some research before we arrive (will pay for it !!) so we can quickly move around ?

You're not going to find anything in California because Californians have been in the game a lot longer than you. Look at Craigslist - you see very few, and the deals that get made get done so quickly that there's no way you'll be able to compete.

You have to go the dealer route and secure some cars that way probably. The idea of coming to the States and mining and searching for cars is not going to be easy. There is so little for sale and really none for sale at good prices that you'd be very hard pressed Porsche wise. Mercedes you can buy all day long in California. No one seems to want those.

I'm willing to do research and logistics, but where Europeans are at a disadvantage is that the good cars sell within hours if not minutes to people with cash in hand, and wire transfers (against all logic) take 4-7 days.

Thks yr reply and PM's received. Reverting when schedule is known.
Mercs SL are still in demand here so it would be good to pick up a few good ones.

Dollar/Euro is bad for the moment so no rush
