930S steering wheel questions
I need a bit of help with this one. I have this early 930S steering wheel that came on my 72 when I bought it back in 93. The wheel has seen very little use but I can't seem to find the gold crested wheels. This wheel would have been purchased in the mid eighties. When did they quit selling these wheels? Are they more desirable or less desirable than the newer versions? What is a reasonable value on something like this As I am considering selling the wheel but don't really know much about it. It also has the hub to mount it.

I might be interested in it if you figure out a asking price

The gold crest is somewhat rare. Depending on condition your wheel could fetch anywhere from $300 to $600...

I've the exact same wheel on my 89, clearly been on there a LONG time, same gold badge, never bothered to pull the horn cover to look at the part numbers/maker. i'd assumed it was aftermarket.

I do see the difference although I have seen other wheels, all made by Atiwe, that are a one piece leather as well. The main difference seems to be the center. The factory wheels appear to be a more textured leather in the center whereas the Atiwe wheels are smooth leather that matches the wheel leather. There seems to have been numberous versions of this wheel produced by Atiwe. So who was the OE manufacturer of the factory wheels if it wasn't Porsche?

There are different makers for the 930s type wheel. I have the wheel sold by Pelican that is made in Germany by the same company that made the original wheel. It is not one piece but still very good quality and perfect leather. All these wheels should still bring in $300-$600 because they look good and just feel great.

You have the non factory wheel it is an earlier style as it has the lower portion wrapped differently
The one pictured by porsche moose is the generic version type A factory wheel has the porsche triangle I graced under the horn pad portion of the steering wheel They made them in 2-3 different sizes so get the size as the smaller diameter is rare. It's funny factory or aftermarket fetches the same prices and very few people know the difference but pay the same You can get this model atiwe for $100-200 used and add a porsche emblem and it into a $400-600 wheel Search atiwe in for sale Last edited by Blackbyrd; 01-01-2016 at 01:14 PM.. |

My wheel measures 360 mm which I suspect is a common diameter? I'm a little unsure what you mean by Porsche triangle. Does anybody have a photo of a factory 930S wheel?
