Need advice on the possible 964 sale

I have 1989 964 Carrera 4 in mint condition with 54k miles. The car has not been driven much and the cylinder base seals need to be replaced so the motor is coming out. Will doing a top end really be worth it? It's about $3000 more to do the total top end and I am having a world renowned shop do the work. Any thoughts? Will doing the top end really help my value? Here is a picture of her.

Yes... Do the work.... Although you may not increase the value by the cost what you are doing is removing uncertainties. The potential buyers will be unable to discount the value for a "possible, potential issues" that may or may not arise in the future. Look at the 996 RMS / IMS.... Anecdotal evidence seems to show that the discount on cars not modified is greater than the modification cost if done concurrent with the clutch... From an entirely different perspective... With all the work done maybe you'll enjoy putting on another 3k miles and still have an "under 60k car" ...Only my 2 cents worth....

They should do a leakdown test before dissasembly, as a future buyer would do as part of a PPI. if it is tight, no reason to do a top end.
