Good deal on a 356?
I have never owned a 356 but have thought about doing an "outlaw"...according to MM, only 356's can be outlaws......
So what is the consensus in this one? MattR |

Agree with ficke. There is a nice $80k 356c in the classifieds that would put you well ahead of the game vs this one. $35k seems like a low entry level price for a 356 these days, but you will pay in the long run.

356C cars have disc brakes all the way around and are decent stopping cars unlike the earlier drum brake cars. There is a decent gold 356 on ebay for 46k I think that has been on there for awhile that hasn't sold and if you are in the market you may want to inquire on that one instead. My 2 cents.

If you are going to build an outlaw you are looking at $125-150 minimum plus the donor car. To do it correctly you will be completely disassembling and replacing most components. Go take a look at some of Rod Emory's to get an idea of what is involved.
So this looks to be a candidate for an outlaw build. Same criteria for a restoration. 356's have just gotten expensive to build. If you can find an older restoration to have as a driver you can still find some at reasonable prices. |
