911 three spoke steering wheel

What would I expect to pay for a 911 2.7 Carrera "fatty" 4 inch round grip three spoke steering wheel ?
Would it be better to have re-stitched original leather (my preference if it can be done?) or have it recovered and will that look correct and who can do either of these jobs.
Thanks , Mike Winebrenner

Do you need an actual fatty, or will a three-spoke re-done to fatty specs work?

I have a genuine Carrera 'Fatty' that i got in pretty beat condition a few years ago for what i thought at the time was a high price. Now of course it seems cheap. I had mine re covered at Dallas Custom and the workmanship is beautiful, and the wheel does not look out of place in my car. I get compliments on it all the time, and those who have sat in my car and gripped the wheel invariably comment on how good it feels. Of course quality is not cheap, it was about $400 but its what connects you to the car so i think well worth it.

However if you can find an original with nothing more than frayed stitching then bringing the original covering back to life is of course the best solution. Remember these days there are some stock wheels which have been double wrapped to look like a fatty. So check the T under the horn pad, and the spoke distances.

Sometimes they come up for sale here. There is a member of the board who cross links his ebay posts and asks a $1000. Earlier this year there were three I think on the F/S section, one of which was $500, and one from the aforementioned seller with a nonsensical claim abut the wheel being re stitched with 'German Thread' whatever that means where he was asking over a thousand bucks.
lots of discussion on the Fatty from some knowledgeable members on the Tech & F/S section

Dallas Custom Steering Wheel review...

Just got my wheel back from Donald Le at Dallas...It looks REALLY nice!!!!

I sent the wheel in , turn around time extremely fast, great communication, got a ton of pictures showing results before return, easy check out, and quality packaging.
It is a treat to find a vendor with this much quality and integrity.
