Price Check: 1997 Euro Varioram engine with ~40k miles

Hello Pelicans,

I'm currently weighing my options on some Porsche projects I'm considering for 2016. Something I'd like to figure out is what a fair market value would be for a 1997 Euro 3.6 Varioram engine with ~40k miles that is setup to be installed in a '69-'89 911. This engine is currently installed (and running very well!) in my 1988 911 cabriolet and is an absolute blast to drive! Lots of power everywhere...

Here are the details of the engine:
- 1997 Euro 3.6 Varioram engine with ~40k total miles, ~14k miles since installation in the '88 911 cabriolet.
- 911chips.com (Steve Wong) DME chip programmed for 91 octane, headers, and lightweight flywheel.
- Functional heat with 993 heat exchangers.
- Triad dual out muffler.
- Instant-G conversion/installation parts.
- OBD1 euro DME and harness included.
- 3.6 G50/930 conversion flywheel and Sachs power clutch included.
- Setrab drivers side front fender mounted oil cooler and crossover lines included. This will allow this cooler to be installed with an existing SC/3.2 fender cooler and hard lines (not included).

I haven't performed a leakdown and compression test as I hadn't planned on selling this engine AND the engine runs great. However I will do so to help confirm a healthy engine. For now lets simply assume this is a healthy engine.

I've done some looking around and it doesn't seem that 3.6 engines are as plentiful or affordable as they were a few years ago.

The price I've come up with for this "plug and play" engine is $20k (again assuming a healthy engine with all conversion parts needed to install in a '69-'89 911). I'm wondering does the Pelican braintrust think that is currently a fair price for this engine?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I just bought a 95 3.6 with v-ram intake and all parts to install it into a 81 sc- 36xxx miles- including clutch - flywheel, chip, wiring conversion done...so on...so forth.... (It's a kit from instant g . Com). I paid $17000
So you're in that ball park- there not getting any cheaper - I would start around 20 and go from there

saxen,

Thanks for the feedback. Is your '95 with VRam intake running OBD1 or OBD2 electronics?

Has anyone else recently purchased a 'plug and play' 993 3.6 Varioram engine?
