1970 T....nice deal?

Ok... This seems like a nice deal at $40k. What does the collective think?

It does. I almost wish I hadn't seen it.

Why wouldn't you put Sunroof in the subject line. They are all survivors these days but the sunroof would attract plenty of attention.

I'm not sure why everybody is talking about a Survivor, it says right in the ad the car was repainted black from its original burgundy color in the 80's. I guess maybe just because the seller is labeling it as Survivor. The first cue that it's not an original paint color is the color black. Black was not very common, but it was a popular repaint.
Price seems fair based on the listed issues with the car. Seller appears to be honest in regards to the state of the car.

Upon closer review of the photos, in my opinion this would be a great car to use as a driver. An attempt to turn it into a pristine car would be far too expensive. While Aubergine is considered by most to be a pretty color, and the car has some likable features such as S appearance package, sunroof, and fog lights, you'd be into this car for far too much money to make it pristine. I won't get into what has been changed from original on the car or what it needs as one can't expect a whole lot when you're talking about a driving longhood for 42k.

Looks like a really slow $40K purchase to me!

How much would it cost? $40k/$50k? I thought condition 2-ish 911Ts went for north of $80k?

Its OK if you don't want or intent to turn it into a perfect car. If you do you will end up financially underwater very quick.

The yellow 72 that sold in one day earlier this week from Don at 65k is interesting to look at for a comparison:

Survivor? That car looks beat to *****. I'm betting there's a fair amount of work needed you don't see, besides the obvious body repair and paint.
