1985 911 Targa (Black)

I have a 1985 911 Targa with 168k miles. I am contemplating selling it due to not having enough time and space to continue to appreciate it like I did years ago. I know the market went up a lot, but any ideas on value?

Black Targa with good top (doesn't leak). Motor runs strong and did tune up within last 10k miles. Some small blemishes, but the body is in good shape. Did shifter bushings, chip and have a complete spare exhaust with cat-delete.

I will post a couple photos later, but trying to get an idea before deciding. Located in NJ.

I would think with the 3.2 you would get closer to $30k.

At $30k, I might have to seriously put it out there...

You don't need to advertise it nationally. You'll get plenty of money in your/our own backyard.

Yep. Put it on Craigslist. And call whatever shop you use and tell them you are selling. I've found several cars by asking my local Indy if he knew of anything for sale. Mechanics are great matchmakers.

Thanks for the input. I will de-winterize it in the next 2 weeks and make a decision. I would rather deal locally, but CL is a crap-shoot. I have done all the work on it myself since ownership, but I can reach out to the 2 local independent P shops.

Yes, CL requires some vetting. But you can usually quickly sort through the scammers and tire kickers. And you will still get national inquiries from serious people.

I found my '89 3.2 through a British imports specialty shop. Every ad I followed locally up here in Canada was effectively a dead end. I think that contacting the shop who did the work and let them know you're thinking of selling is excellent advice. It worked for me and all involved were very happy with the deal

The interior looks like it's in good shape, and it's hard to tell how nice the paint is. I think you could get more than $30k from the right person.
