The $65k 912

Guess the bubble is intact for 912's....wonder if this will sell for near that?

Check it out - a rare, cut-a-way drawing of a 912! Wutz its market value?!?!?!

Note that the "excretory pore and anus" are appropriately positioned in the area of the driver's seat!

Matt, the boost is labeled "gonad" in the pic - a rare 912 option.

I actually know of several that have traded hands in the $80-90k range. I also know of 2 that are currently being restored that are costing well over $50k to do. Guys are ready to spend money on these cars. Though that's the first time I've seen a LWB coupe that high. For that money I could buy a pretty decent 66 coupe or a driver 67 SWT.

Seems like a good deal to me.

Polo Red is so vastly superior to Guards Red, what was Porsche thinking in the 80's?

When you think about it, at $65k even though it's a 912 that is still probably less than it would cost to have a full nut and bolt correct restoration. That's around what I have been quoted for a street concours complete restoration on my 72 911E Targa and up to $100k with the body dipped for galvanizing the steel and to concours show quality.

Last spring time in Monterey a 912 sold for 60-75k. I can't recall exactly, but it is out there if one cares to look.

This sold today:
1966 912, restored, California car, COA
Estimate: $60-80k
Sold: $60k
1966 Porsche 912 | Gooding & Company

What does this mean, well it means nice 912's are 60k+ cars.

How much for an unrestored driver 68' 912 5 speed in tangerine? Zero rust, few nicks on the paint but overall nice.

They're 50 year old cars. And if they're in near perfect condition those prices are reasonable. I've seen all kinds of stuff sold for stupid money, from a table to a beer stein. Old and clean equals big money. It doesn't have to appeal to you, just somebody, you guys know that.

Seinfeld sold a 66 911 this week for $250k. There's still a gap on values.

I don't really get it either, actually about most of the Porsche prices. I love them and have literally had one my whole life since my dad had one when I was born and my 1st car I bought at 18 was a 356 Roadster for $1,800 and I have always had at least one the last 32 years. It was kinda in my blood and I have always felt more at home around Porsche people than other makes. Although the 308 crowd is still pretty cool until the prices go up too much there as well.

If the bubble does burst and/or settles some I might be back in the market for a 912. Mostly because I do know how much it cost to restore one so I don't want to pay too much to start. If not, I'm very content with the current stable.

I'm 51 and I've had a few cars over the years my last being a 996. I've always found most of the cars 'wasted' on me. Probably because I don't do DEs or track days, just street driving. I was drawn to the 912 because visually it's as pretty as a 911 but it's not as "fast" therefore I'm not tempted to drive to aggressively on everyday roads like I was in my other cars. I can still have fun pushing its limits without being asked to slowly exit the vehicle with my hands up and to get on my knees with my hands locked behind my head.

I personal know this 912, its stunning, a correct restoration job with no short cuts.
For sure one of the best 912's in the World, nobody could do this quality restauration for the asking price. Cheers.
