What do I have here? - 68 911S

Another what's it worth thread:

I have a 68 911S project car .... kind of? The title says 1968, the VIN in the front trunk matches and I have the number matching engine.... but I discovered the VIN was welded in a 1969 or 1970 tub. I suspect the original 1968 was involved in an accident many moons ago and instead of repairing the original 911S another tub was used and the drivetrain and interior was transferred over (I have the door panels and interior bits of the 68s as well). The car currently has a salvage title for this reason.

What do I have here? What's it worth? I have no intention of trying to pass it off as the original and will document the fact the original tub is long gone.

Your feedback is definitely exceeding my expectations! I don't think I have the complete set of wheels... must check when I get home

It does support the idea that the chassis may be a 70t. Hopefully you have all 4.

Have you checked the stamped number on the dash? Dave Patenan can help I'd the tub from that.

Does it have the 68 S gauges? Those are worth a bit.

What's it got for a gearbox?

I purchased the 911 a few years ago with a bunch of parts. I believe the gearbox was a 5 spd from a 69 but I going to double check. I have a set of gauges but I think they're from a 70 from the date stamp.

Also, the engine came with the matching set of carbs.

Does it have the yellow "crayon" # written on the bare metal of the top of the dash (above the gauges)?
