Value of complete running 2.2 E engine ?

Currently installed in 1973 car
Runs excellent with rebuilt mfi system and solid exhaust
Includes a smooth shifting 901 gearbox also

Anyone have any idea of value?

Have a buyer for the car but since it isn't matching anyway he would rather have a correct 2.4 engine

Thank you for your help

2.2 used a 911 gearbox, not a 901. Different type of clutch and different axle flanges. One is aluminum and the other is mag. You will want to double check which it is before doing a deal.

Have you done leak down and compression on the engine? It would make is easier to sell and be worth an extra $2-3k if the numbers are good.

Yes it is a 911 box. Engine is from a 1970
Engine had low leak down numbers when I bought it and just had the mfi system rebuilt. They also put a new gas tank and rubber lines in car.

The offer is in the 30-35k range so I may be selling a little light.
Since it isn't matching anyway I think it might bring just as much with a 2.4 installed

Thanks

I tried posting a pic but not showing up.

The database upgrade they've been doing has corrupted the image files if you are using pelican's uploads.

Price is probably in the right ballpark with no 2.4 and no 915 gearbox.

Just trying to follow along...$30-35 with no power train? Out of curiosity what is the s/n of the engine? Maybe its my lucky day :)

You're welcome John.

I'd guess the engine is ~$15k with mfi and good leak down.

But it has low leakdown. The good money is to leave it in the car. It's maybe $10k as a core and another $1-2k for the 911 gearbox.

I took the OP as meaning the engine is good as in it has low % leak down numbers and therefore is more than just a core. Now I'm not sure....

Or maybe I'm just a total idiot and read it backwards. That's actually the likely thing. :o

Its not the one but thanks for checking and posting it.

I appreciate the input guys.
I was thinking since the car is not matching anyway then it would be better to stick a 2.4 in it and use the 2.2 in another project.
It runs very well with great throttle response and has no issues with oil leaks or smoke.

I haven't been keeping up with engine and parts pricing.

Thank you

The car does not have any rust issues but is a color change.
It is non matching but not modified at all.

So are you thinking the car should still be in the 35-50k price range?

Are MFI engines really selling for $15k ?

I think 30-35k was without the drivetrain.
