The Aircooled car theft ring is in full effect. Seems like every other week someone is getting their Porsche stolen in Los Angeles. This is getting ridiculous. I'll keep my eyes/ears out.

Where do these cars get offloaded? Shipped overseas?

Could be anything. They may be going through a Chop Shop process where nice cars are parted out and the parts are used on cars that are rough. Colors are being changed, parts are being altered from their original appearance. There's just no way to tell. If there is that many that are going missing from the Los Angeles area then hopefully it will be able to be figured out.

Do the police even have time to chase LoJack anymore ?

when it first came out it was "sport" and something new for the cops to play with ,
but now its just another line on the day sheet ,

Plus LAPD is so overwelmed it takes hours and even days to come out and take a report ,

Is there anything that makes this 911 stand out from all others ?

Hopefully it was just a joy ride and it will be found in a few days

good luck and will keep eyes open

So sorry. Good luck with the hunt. I am thinking of starting a 911 holding tank up in the SC/NC mountains for my SoCal brethren.

If this was towed, that is one thing, but I think hidden kill switches and/or pulling the fuel pump relay fuse is becoming anecessity in high crime areas.

Maybe a hidden kill switch using an unused existing control, or do it like Mexican drug cartels do, where an elaborate sequence of actiosn using standard controls opens a secret compartment or, in this case, activates a kill switch.

To the OP, I'm sorry your car got stolen. I hope it is recovered!

Kill switch, factory alarm, the club, steep driveway, underground gated parking. If they want it, they are going to get it. Parked mine 8:00 pm weeknight and 6:00am the next morning, gone! This was Westwood Blvd. and Santa Monica. It sucks!

What kind of old geezer steals a vintage 911?

Someone enlighten me if I'm wrong, but I'd guess stealing old Porsches must be a California regional issue? Nearby international ports and plenty of buyers of 911 parts in the area would be the driving factors?

Time to start installing those old Clifford alarms!

Hate to bury my head in the sand but I just can't imagine anyone stealing an old 911 in Kansas. Out here, old Caddys, Regals, Caprices, SUVs, trucks, Accords and Civics are the stolen cars of choice. Easy cars to commit other crimes with and to also sell the custom parts off of. Adding to this, the new wave of young criminals can't drive stick either so joyriders are out.

Best wishes to the OP to get his car back......or getting a good insurance check to cover it. Sucks reading about this.

It's not safe in Los Angeles! This is my buddies idea for slowing them down though. Hope he doesn't mind me posting this!

As mentioned, if someone really wants it, they will get it. If nothing else, they can just winch it up onto a flatbed and deal with the anti-theft measures at another time and in another place. Friends in Caracas had a series of 80-series Land Cruisers that kept getting stolen. They had an alarm, kill switch, club and padlock bolted to the tunnel over the shifter. And still they would get stolen in the middle of the day in the middle of the city while out shopping. But I really hope the OP gets his car back. This kind of makes me nervous about ever having my car in LA, not that that is currently likely. I don't really have to worry about this in my part of the country.

The kind that knows that the car is worth close to $50k in parts alone... Anywhere in the country!
Come on guys. It's all about the parts. Gotta act fast and recover it quickly, I hope. LA is the epicenter for Porsches, Porsche sales / repair & scum = stolen P-car.

Hoping for a happy ending,,,, sigh.

just in time for Festival of Speed in Fontana.
Take the time to go looking for something you may recognize.
Parts buyers be on the lookout.
This has to stop, vigilante style if necessary

That's actually not a bad idea. Can a thief still get around it? - yeah but it'll take some time.

My sympathies, that really sucks. I have another kill switch in mind for those bastards...they deserve what they get. Good luck finding it - I will keep my eyes out on the other side of town.

Another SoCal loss. Unfortunately the cars are NEVER recovered. I've got to ask the usual question.... Did your car go to BEVERLY HILLS PORSCHE? The majority of the cars get stolen from there. How is it that this ring is so big and they never get caught. I think on avg 1 air cooled 911 is stolen every month in So Cal
