Really regretting putting money in my 401k instead of where I really wanted to stash it right now...

Hi,that is in the range for right now. This series of Carreras started in 73 and the 3.0 is the last of that lineage.Like fine wine another year will bring them to maturity.Fred

I had the same question in mind..... Powered by the 3,0 CIS motor; these were considered not too long ago as not much more than the precursor to the 911SC and priced with a small premium. I do not understand this value at all....... They are nice cars but as exceptional performance wise as a 964 RS american is to a 964 or a 87 thru 89 Club Sport to a standard G50. They did have perhaps one of Porsche's best engine blocks which many considered the foundation of the finest RSR racing motors.

Personally, I think they got caught in the run-up of another relatively mild performer, the 74 thru 75 2,7 CIS USA Carrera. These cars should not be confused with the MFI cars produced at the same time....

3.0 carrera's are nice cars, I sold Fred a basketcase one a few years ago. Prices are all over the map, that one is approaching turbo carrera territory, we'll see what happens.
