Buyer beware scammers even affect eBay parts..
2nd time this years I've attempted to purchase 930 parts and got flat out scammed. Latest time was a ebayer with 520 sales only the last transaction was bad.
Sports seats for only $1500 shipped.. Yeah they are recovered in vinyl.. But still cheap. Any how called PayPal they read all the emails he sent me along with bogus tracking numbers and recommended I immediately file a dispute so they can but a hold on the funds. And refund my money after 30 days.. I had to as after 10 days the funds are released to him and then I'll have to wait 60 days plus to get my money back.. Here are the emails he sent me to keep me strung along just long enough for the funds to clear. (Buyer) Also please Pack well. I know these will be difficult to ship. (Seller) Thanks, Tony - Will do. Thank you for the purchase. (Buyer) Not trying to be a pest but could you please give me a update on the shipping status? I know these could be a little difficult to ship. Any correspondence is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tony (Seller) - Hey tony, Sorry for delayed response. I work full time and sometimes it's hard to be on top of my shipments. I did print out the label and they will be packaged and dropped off today at FedEx. Thank you for understanding. I just received my first "neutral" feedback from someone that was less patient.. Thank you, (Seller) -Just dropped it off at FedEx Cheers, (Buyer) Thanks could I get the tracking number so I can track package? Thanks, Tony (Seller) -Here it is FedEx 782680910xxx (Buyer) That is not a valid tracking number (Seller) - Hi tony, This is the correct tracking number. It just need to be updated, please wait for Monday for FedEx to update the system. Thank you (Buyer) Thanks, I ll give it until tomorrow, understand from my shoes how this looks 2 tracking numbers neither work. (Seller) -Yea, ignore the first tracking number, that label got damaged so I had to print a second one. Understand his only motive is to make it 10 days without the buyer filing a dispute then funds are released and he is free to sell the seats again and again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

sorry to hear, please update us, did PP cover you?
how much time between sellers last 5 feedbacks and value of the average sale amount? Also call Ebay, PP/Ebay. I have been on the other end more than ones, buyers pull a trick on sellers not going into details as the protected scum do not need more info how to do. PM me if you want details. |

Guy simply will not give much information and has over the past week told me it was shipped twice.. Refuses to give me much information and gives me bogus tracking numbers. If you look at the guys feedback its almost hard to believe other than his last transaction was a neutral. The reason was was very slow shipping. Paypal suggested I cover myself and file a dispute before he withdraws the funds as this will further complicate things. Guy is stalling.

Paypal is being a little evasive about what they will do. This whole thing sucks. Lots of scammers out there now and they seem to be drawn to anything that says Porsche.

You've probably already thought of this, but if not, did you fund the Paypal transaction with a credit card? If so, go ahead and call the CC bank and start their fraud procedure. I try to always use a CC for Paypal purchases so I can get extra help with potential situations like the one you are having.

I want to wait for PayPal to rule so then I can expose him on here. I don't think he is a threat on here as he has not posted parts for sale in some time (2 years). He seems to buy and part out 944s. I don't know why recently he has went MIA with my money. I can say I'm worried about the PayPal buyer protection.

Yeah my fault, this guy is trying to convince me this is all fedex's mistake and that they have a lousy tracking system, that he really did ship the seats 4 days ago. I really hope this guy is just lazy and was trying buy time with my money use it as a short term loan ect and not a out and out scammer.

The scam is to purchase a legitimate Ebay account and use it for new scams. I have been offered $500 cash for my Ebay account with over 500+ feedbacks. He pays you, and you give him the log in. Presumably, the scammer then changes your Ebay accounts email and password, and it becomes his Ebay account (and he leverages the 500+ legacy feedback to his advantage) The account pays for itself after one scam. This is also a way for a legitimate seller to jumpstart a new Ebay business with an established feedback history.

This guy appears to be legit. Sorry to hear of your problems and hopefully you will indeed receive your seats.

That's good to hear, but the whole thing could have been avoided if the seller was more up-front about what was going on at his end. It might not have been a scam, but it sure wasn't a smooth sale.
Even here on PP, from people who have been members a while, you have to pay attention. There are some guys who are very straight-up, no B.S. I bought some parts from techweenie, and the transaction was smooth, no issues at all. Price was fair, and I got the parts exactly as represented. On the other hand, I bought from a guy with similar history, and way overpaid for crap parts that were in no way representative of how he presented them. I got screwed, because I trusted someone I didn't know. Also not a scam, per se, but still. You have to cover your own butt at all times. |
