"I buy any classic Porsche, any condition" - who are these guys?
I was just browsing the WTB section and it's flooded with these kinds of posts, all first posts. Who are these guys? Are any legit? Are they just flippers? (FTR I don't really care if they are, if someone can make money flipping a car, have at it, and I don't mind selling my car to one if it's at the price I want for it.) Or are they scams?

I wouldn't think scammers, but lowballer flippers and dealers for sure.

I also enjoy WTB ads with specifics like, "WTB Porsche 930 for $70k" and then get a reply, "Have a beautiful 930 for $125k if you are interested." Lol

It's like those BHCC minions who walk up the driveway and offer the owner 40% of fair market value and tell him it's a good deal and he should take it. Same kind of scum.

Flip through the back pages of Panorama, there's a whole mess of those ads to be found.

All the ones I have dealt with are all bottom feeders looking to pay bottom dollar for your car. Huge waste of time communicating with them.

I have found that the European buyers pay the highest prices with no games. The higher prices in Europe give them more margin, I guess.
I do not deal with any US flippers. Most have watched too many episodes of Pawn Stars |

Absolutely, I responded to a few, never got a response, they should be banned as clearly not a legitimate part of the community.

How does one go about finding European buyers? Where do you advertise?

Easy. I'm sure most read many forums like Pelican, Rennlist, Ferrari Chat (Porsche ), and ads in Ebay BAT etc.

To answer the question on prices....
1 car went to France. Asking price was reduced by the cost of the ppi "needed" repairs which were done at my local shop. 1 went to Germany at asking 1 stayed local at my target which was $1,000 below what I asked. Last edited by msark; 04-15-2016 at 07:55 AM.. Reason: spelling |

All at the market.... In fact I would imagine a number of folks here would have commented about how high the prices seem....
A much better situation for me than showing the car to wanna be's with no intention or ability to buy the car and fielding a bunch of messages from "I remember when" folks. In each case I sent the general description of the car and let them know I was in Southern California and a PPI would be fine within 20 miles of my place provided they paid the shop for the ppi in advance and reimbursed my Uber costs..... One of them sent a mechanic to my house for the ppi .... That's the one that sold at full ask... |

The local flipper (who is not a good person but did pay as agreed) had a relationship with a specific buyer in Europe looking for this car. It went right from me to them.....
Depending on the age of the car and the country the tax rate they pay on the return to Europe varies greatly. Someone in Spain mentioned that when they buy cars they have them delivered to Portugal which has the lowest tax. They get the EU plate and tax sticker and somehow it works over the long term. I learned that when they go back to Germany it's considered a re-patriation and also has a tax advantage..... And... Maybe I've just been lucky...... |

Given these people carry tens of thousands cash routinely, I don't doubt you.
