sensor question
The 1984-89 911 has a ton of sensors that can go haywire. I read about it all the time. My question is why do our cars need all of these sensors and did the early 911's 1965-70 cars have them also. I'm asking because I want to better understand my car. Thanks, Nick

You might be a little misinformed about the multitude of sensors. I count 6. The 3.2 is the easiest to work on DIY, in my humble opinion.
1. O2 2. Speed 3. Reference 4. CHT 5. AFM 6. Throttle position, idle You have emissions, air and fuel concerns only (timing, spark). Simple |
Thanks! Sorry I put this in wrong spot.

It's an electronic fuel injection system with a computer. The earlier cars were largely mechanical in their function.
