78 "930" on ebay is converted 911SC
Couple months ago my buddy was at an auction an hour from me, texts me pictures of a couple cars. One was this "930" sporting the usual slant conversion, at the time I noticed there was no serial number quoted in the auction info, I didn't think much of it but tried to find out what it sold for, the results were never posted unlike previous auctions by this company.
Noticed the car on ebay tonight Here is when someone consigned it at the same companies auction. At this point I can only presume someone consigned it, but it appears the auction house either owned it or bought it at their auction, I feel it's the latter of the two. 1978 PORSCHE 911 930 TURBO SLANT NOSE For Sale : the Electric Garage I notice in the ebay ad it's represented in various spots as a 930, other spots as 911 930. It's a 911 serial number chassis, 1978 911SC. No boost gauge, and in one pic you can see 911 brake calipers. It appears to be a typical 3.3 powerplant, though I notice it says 5 speed, so likely 915. Misleading? Seems like an average joe might not be aware of it being an SC with a 911 serial number, thinking they are getting a steal of a deal 930. Serial number SN : 9118200576 Last edited by Jim2; 04-29-2016 at 08:16 PM.. |

Yeah looks like it's pieced together on a regular 78. What's is worth, anyone have a guesstimate on a range.
Thanks, Larry |

Bid/sold $39,100
1978 911 SC coupe 930 flares Aftermarket slantnose/headlights Vented rear fenders aftermarket rockers without jack port Aftermarket wheels 930 engine 5 speed presumably a 915 no boost guage/tach combo SC brakes best as I can tell from one picture. Was this a fair price for a modded SC? |
