1986 Coupe - Another whats it worth....
Hate to post up one of these threads, but since "asking isn't getting" I am doing it anyway. Can't always tell what things are really selling for.
1986 Coupe, white. Burgundy interior All stock I'd say paint is 7/10 and interior 8 Mechanically the car is very good. It was re-built in the last 20,000, fully documented. Car pulls and drives very nice. I have an SC; I'm somewhat in tune with what the market has been doing. In my opinion the 86 would probably "sell" for around $30k. This is the northeast, so we're not talking about a FL or Cali garage queen here. thoughts?? And no - I don't have any photos to throw up. But its plain Jane stock. Fuchs aren't color matched, standard black. No tail/spoiler. |

Well no pix hurts opinions.
No total mileage hurts estimates too. White with burgundy sounds nice. I like the no tail look. Let me ask you 2 questions: 1) what would you take for your SC? There's one basis to go on. 2) when's the last time you saw a 3.2 G50 go for $30 grand? There's another basis. Oh, and one more thing. If you're Metro NY, the price goes up.

Mileage on the 86 is around 135k - forgot to mention.
Not in NY - we are talking semi-rural New England, 2 hr from Boston SC has 199k on it, Quartz Grey Metallic in color. Not really sure what that'd go for, thinking low 20s. We are talking about an 86, so I am not sure what you are getting at with your G50 comment. |

My mistake about the G50. Thought it was an 87.

Documented rebuild* is good and low to mid $30s is correct for the car you describe.
* More than a few 'rebuilt 911 engines' were done by Motormeister. That negates the value of the rebuild. Earnest amateur rebuilds aren't much better. A rebuild by a respected shop is the best value boost.

Strictly by the numbers, the '86 911 has the highest production volume of any aircooled 911. They made a lot of them. And they sold a lot of them here. If it's clean I would say late $20s.

Put on BaT. If pictures show nice car and good documentation will sell mid-$30's all day long

Thanks for the info guys
Car isn't mine, it's a friends. I think he is going to sell, but not sure I actually knew of the car and directed him to it a couple years ago The rebuild was done by PO who if I remember was a German man, retired me mech. Engineer. Very nice man, meticulous shop. Price recommendations are about what I thought If it wasn't white (black or red) I'd consider it pretty hard. Drives really nice, mechanically better than my SC all day long imo |
