930 CS spotting

Hi, new to the 911 community. I've just been offered a chance to buy a 1989 911, advertised as being a Club Sport model. I don't know a huge amount about these, but I recall reading the CSs had no AC, no power seats, no power windows, no sunroof (except one or two), and no backseat.

The one I'm looking at however has power seats and windows. Plaid seats, and the back seat seems to be half there...there are no belts in the back though. Is there any additional insight or things I could look for to verify its authenticity? Would a VIN be able to give me that info?
Thanks!

There is no such thing as a 930 CS. A 930 is a turbo - and a CS is a leightweight Carrera 3.2 which is extremely rare and sought after. Only a few hundred were produced. The price on a CS can be anywhere between 250K and 500K USD these days.

So what you are looking at is probably not a Club Sport - a CS engine will have a "SP" mark.

Thanks, I didn't realise the 930 moniker applied to the turbo only. Is there any other identifying feature? The seller is adamant it is a CS

You can pm me the ad or pics. I will be amazed if it is a CS. You are correct that they did not have the same electrical stuff as the standard car. Could have been special order though.

Is the vin close to this one? Alternately you can call Porsche.

Maybe he means "California special"

Sorry, didn't see any VIN there. I'm calling as soon as they open. I'll also PM you some crappy pics.

Never mind that. I was not thinking straight - sent you a pm.

Long story short, it ended up not being a Clubsport. The seller was misled and is opening proceedings against the previous owner for misrepresentation. Last of the VIN is 101147 if anyone has the same question.

$1000 says those proceedings never get opened.

If it looks too good to be true...

In fact, it seems that two 930 Club Sport were produced, for very good friends of the Porsche family. I have seen one of them.

Not much different from a regular Euro 930 from the outside, but with a sunroof and opening rear side windows.

I hope to have a better look at this car next time that I will see it, but will not be able to take pictures and reveal the VIN. It is a part of a very nice and discreet collection.

Maybe a "special" 930 was made - hell Porsche is known for giving rich kids what they want. But a 930 CS!? Maybe Alice in Wonderland drives one....
