"There's Still One Air-Cooled Porsche 911 You Can Get for a Deal"

Article on R&T Online:
There's Still One Air-Cooled Porsche 911 You Can Get for a Deal

TL;DR:
Guy buys a 121K mile '84 Carrera for $14K, puts over $20K into fixing it, "almost" breaks even when he sells it on BaT for $34K.

I guess if $34K for a 121K mile Carrera is a "deal", he got one

Cheers

d.

Well the Fuchs wheels look nice on that one.

One the one side anyway.

No pics of that $14K car "as found" but here's an "after" shot:

Saw this article the other day and thought it must have been written four years ago.

It is correct for 4 years ago. It's pretty far out of whack for today.

Completely agree; in fact that's almost my case. Bought my 120K-mile '85 in 2010 for $14K but it needed nothing. Even has original paint. Have put a little more into it but not much, and still enjoy driving it whenever I can :-)

Cheers

I bought a 227K-mile 85 coupe in 2010 for $9500... Tired but no urgent needs.

1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe | Bring a Trailer

Sold in december for $34k. Is that out of whack? Seems about right for an average 3.2?

Although I think that left front fender is out of whack. Somebody should have whacked it a bit more before sending it to the paint booth IMO
