SCAM Thread.

Lets just put them all here.
I'll start with the latest one. 1966 911. The price is one thing, but all it needs fixed is the Air Conditioning...

Don't disillusion me, I'm clearing a spot in the garage for it right now. Grey, red interior, great history, SWB 911 for beer money, today is my day, I'm telling you.

Holy shart that a/c bit is hilarious "only needs servicing" - must have the latest tech, invisible compressor, so definitely worth a premium right thar!

santagrant 06-23-2016 11:28 PM

Amazing - - A/C with no compressor!!! Maybe a compressor is included in an A/C service.

SCrescue 06-24-2016 07:05 AM

Maybe he's referring to a window regulator....:-)

A response, " can you please send a detailed photo of -----, that is very important to me" Let's you know if they really have the car or just a story.
The other one I use is " how fortunate, I have a friend who lives near you and can personal inspect the car for me", or when I wanted some hood lights that were in Belgium " no problem with shipping I have a friend who is in the police department and can handle the transaction for us" I did have a good friend in the police department in Belgium at the time and could have gone through with that threat.

Good grief. How stupid are these guys? $45,000 for a 1978 930.

Exactly, and not only that, he says he's from MN and the pics of the 930 are clearly in Europe (see license plates of the cars in the parking lot). Total scammer. Sad.

I remember this car. I remember the ad. The real asking price of the car was $115,000 US dollars. That ad is nearly a year old btw.

Funny how things have changed so drastically, considering that up until a couple of years ago, a guy asking $45,000 for a well worn 930 would have been called stupid for overpricing it by about $15K-$20K.

I guess that's what happens to the dollar when you put the printing presses on high for two terms. Who knew...

What I don't "get" about the price increase is that the people paying big money for them (big money for lame, stock examples, that is) don't seem to be buying them to drive; rather than guys who buy them to say "holy shart, this thing hauls azz - can't wait to make it haul even more azz", you've got q-tippers paying big money so they can park them, take pride in the low miles, and say "that thing sure looks good sitting there collecting dust". Really weird to me.

I like the third category, the collector who swears he's not like those other fussy collectors - "Nah, I actually drive my cars. Every other month to Cars and Coffee!"

Scammer - Trigger Smith

I'm getting bombarded by a person registered as "Trigger Smith" offering me varied parts that I have WTB listings for. Obviously a scammer that should be banned.

Excellent - I was so preoccupied thinking about the large nick names mentioned in the other thread that I confused that with this one! :)
