964 C2 targa valuation
I have a good handle on 964 coupe market but not targa market- what discount does a 964 targa sell for compared to a coupe. Car in question is a 1990, 77k miles black on black, driver condition. Didn't make many - don't see many offered for sale.
TIA, Phil |

Like you said: not many made. Last of the "original" targa. No discount over a coupe, imo.

Mid/Upper $30ks if it has some leaks and small needs etc...Mid $40k range if rebuilt, no leaks, original owner and extra clean.

Price would vary according to any repairs or upgrades.Early 3.6 engines had issues with cylinder leakage.Porsches cure was to machine the heads and replace the P&C.Not a cheap repair. There was an alternate repair to use a 3.2 head gasket repair kit from Porsche, keep the original P&C and get the same result for 10 cents on the dollar.Fred

I'm going to be the outlier and say price it like a 964 C2. I don't think there's any discount because it is a targa.

I would suggest 40k+ don't dip down into the 30s if it has been well taken care of.

Only 164 US spec targa's built in 1990, didn't realize production was that low.

Have to agree with Matt and Christian. I have only seen two in my life - and I lived in California. Dark years for Porsche. These are the years that they almost went under. I was at the factory in 1991 and didn't see any Targas, only coupes. A sleeper for sure. With production that low it'll mean something someday.

Cool. I was looking for one before 964s spiked and missed out. Slightly jealous.
