Kinda worthless I would say. For example 1974 is going to conflate puny 74 911 and mighty Carrera. Worlds apart in price. Plus condition may vary immensely. Zero information value imho.

Doesn't CarGurus mostly reflect crack pipe dealer asking price?
Where are they getting completed sales data from?
How many people here have their final sales price reported publicly?

Garbage in, garbage out.

Love to see the 87-89 3.2 data. Average price is $93K-$123K?
These are crack pipe prices.

Don't sweat it. It's nothing personal. Picking things apart from our sofa or kind of what we do here. Thanks for contributing.

Car Gurus tracks asking prices on sites like KBB, Cars.com and Autotrader. I assume all the older Porsche data is compiled from all different models from each year.

I would recommend reading Sports Car Market if you want info on classic car trends and values. They cover the Porsche market throughly.

Sorry ASD, I was not throwing stones at you specifically. More at cargurus than anything else.

Big $28K jump from 86 to 87 is not supported by just switchover to G50. It's possible M491s and Turbos slipped in to those numbers. I'm almost positive the 930s are a big component of the '89 prices they state... and Speedsters.

Problem with all the valuation metric databases are you don't really know where the data comes from. I personally would be very suspicious of any database that claims that 911 sales prices are still going up, I see no evidence of that.

I believe prices are still going up. There will be a low-mile SC hitting the market next week in the mid-high $70s. It will be interesting to see how quickly that sells.

The thing is, we're all looking at anecdotes. You can't have a 'market' without commodities, and most 911s did not fall into that category when new, and are farther from it as they age.

I've been following the SC/3.2 pre G50 market by reaching out to buyers/sellers after the trade and asking what the actual trade price was. I am trying to pick up a DE car, and these are cars that I got more info on. Seems a consistent 10%-15% percent discount to ask. Most folks are happy to share the info. There still good cars (drivers) at decent prices to be had if you are patient and subscribe to the "another one always comes around" theory. But you have to be ready!

I agree with Techweenie that a G50 does not warrant the pricing delta.

Just me though.

And if we are talking track cars, most of the E Class PCA racers I know run the 915 over the G50.

That difference between ask and sell sounds about right. That's what I have historically told people it is. It's just part of the buying selling game. Most sellers upprice the car over their real number to let the buyer feel like they negotiated a deal.

if you use the last years trend as a measure prices should go up steadily. A great car that lots of people still want to own. I for one love the one I have.

So what price range are these non G50, DE-driver condition SC/3.2 cars changing hands at in the current market.p?
