The G body Turbo market has finally been coming back to reality.

I agree. I'm not tracking the 930 market but having owned a few of 911SC and having sold one several months back, I think that '79 was a bargain. I realize it has a 10-footer paint job and had a salavge title, but it looks like a pretty original and unmolested car and I think should have fetched more money.

Some of the comments especially around how the car wouldn't pass smog in CA may have scared some buyers. This is what I don't like about BAT as these commenters may have too much influence. I also think the seller could have done a better job in defending the car.

In the terms of CA smog, I don't think this would have been too big of an issue especially as the car still had it's original smog pump and catalytic converter. It was missing it's smog pump belt which the commenter thought was a sign of of major problems. In reality, it was probably just to get more power or simply because it wasn't needed where the car lived.

True, but for every negative Nancy comment I see on BAT's Porsche auctions, there are usually at least 2-3 more cheerleaders hooting about what a scorching deal someone is getting or "just wait till the last second for a $20k jump!" or "whoever's winning this could flip it next week for big bucks!" and so on. At least during the auction's last 24 hours or so.

I wonder what the guy who posted "anything over $85k and the market hasn’t cooled" has to say about the $82.5k hammer price.

82.5k is a fair deal, it's a high milage car. Had it under 50k miles at would have broker 100k.

These were far from Monterey-quality cars.

My idea is that the Turbo is right where it should be. Also, I do not think that BaT was the correct venue for this car, and by putting it on BaT the seller left money on the table. Not too much, but left money on the table. It would be smart to bring it to Monterey and see what happens, but it was an OK 930 at an OK price.

The SC is where it should be considering that every Salvage Title Porsche I have seen lately (or other collector cars) people seem to have the need to try to say 'oh, it was just a theft recovery.' But there is never any evidence that some clown took it out on a joy ride and left it with a couple scratch marks - it is just assumed that the Salvage was theft recovery because the 'dealer' could not find any damage.

Most people who look at a crashed 911 have no idea what they are looking at. Most people who see hacked 911s think they are fine too. I have bought classics in the past that were theft-recovered Salvage and they were seriously messed up.

At the end of the day on both of these they got what they paid for.

So did this car have a clean title or not? Sellers description says so but comments on BaT say otherwise as will as 3 post here.. I'd say awesome price for the seller if that's the case.

Jaysus H., hard to believe people are paying that much for those cars - I would want one with an engine built to the 600hp range if I was spending $80K plus. Way too little car for so much money. What caused people to lose their minds like this?

Almost 100k on the clock, prior salvage title, 10 footer paint, no sport seats, panel fitment issues and who knows what else. $82k was a fair price for a driver

$$$$ is worth 1/2 of what it was worth 5 years ago, thanks O'bozo the clown.

^^^

Ya', I keep forgetting about stuff like that. I've owned mine since when they were selling for what I consider a car like this "worth" and see the ridiculously high prices now as borderline psychotic and downright laughable (the joke being on the buyers, buttofcourse) . . . especially for stock (aka - severely knee capped/neutered) examples.

The Red 79 Turbo on BAT had a clean California Title.. So I guess $82k would be considered a great buy?

What is the thoughts of this valuation given the $82.5 the red brought.

79 Turbo on BAT

We are going to see the 75 to 79 930s pull away from the 1980 and up.

The 75 to 77 of course for the 3.0 engine, 930 vin.

78,79 early 3.3, 917 floating rotor setup, 930 vin.

These years were also the dominate years of the 934/935 race cars.

Do not take the bait.
Do you really want to know the answer? I know I do not. It would be PARF talk and this is not the place for that.
Here is a picture of a woman who was took the bait and talked PARF in the Porsche threads, notice that disgust in her face, She will not even look at the camera.
