Scams in Cars For Sale section

A bit frustrated lately with lots of the recent cars for sale being scams or shady sellers. I have came across many different scenarios as of late. Faked COAs who's numbers don't make sense, pictures that don't match the description and then finding the posts edited later on to show something different, and then lots of posts that suggest a buyer to communicate through email instead to which the conversations really get interesting.
Call me paranoid...but since we can not comment on for sale car posts, perhaps this can be a thread where Questionable Posts can be linked and discussed. Just an idea...there may already be a thread out there. Let me know if I'm out of line.

This is almost a word-for-word, same comment that the hacker of the account that was the subject of the other "cheap turbo" thread used when he was being called to the carpet.

Does anyone know iluv911 and can contact him off-Pelican to check this out/let him know about the hackjob?

Are you addressing the hacker and suggesting that he run his scam with a more realistic price? Must be since no one here was questioning the illegitimacy of a $80k 1976 Turbo listing (aka - no waking up needed).

I have to admit that if someone hacked iluv911's account he is imitating the grammar and punctuation I see in his post history pretty well.

Car is not a fake, car is on an open title, needs paint, non-matching engine and oil leaks. It sold on eBay in June and brought mid 50's on a buy now auction.

I told the seller I wanted it at his asking price and now he quit responding, his ad is now gone and he has blocked PM.

T.O., when you say "seller" are you talking about iluv911? If so, were you in contact with him before last night when that questionable Pelican classifieds listing first showed up?

Did you get an email & phone number for him? Just curious as the listing sure seemed strange considering what those early Turbos are supposedly selling for.

Yes to iluv911, saw the ad last night, I was the first view, I have copies of the front and back of the title and have spoken with Frank on the phone.
