1974 targa values please?

Hello all, I have come across a 1974 Targa with 85,000.- original miles, original engine, original lime green paint in excellent cond but lf fender repainted due to scratch, perfect original Targa top, black interior with the plad seat inserts and plad door panel inserts, Fuchs wheels in very good shape, factory air cond car but comp needs to be replaced, aftermarket radio. Interior in excellent cond but seats need rework. The engine just had a complete stune up service out of the car including new chain tensioners. Car runs very well and leaks no oil. The paint is 9 out of 10. I know most folks do not like the 2.7 1970's cars but this car is in excellent cond-the price is $31 to 33K-we do not have a final price yet but it is in this range. I trust your opinions cause I am not familiar with the 1970's cars-please give me your honest thoughts on this car. THANK YOU!!!

I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it's as good as you described.
I paid tons more for mine (I tend to do that!).

And the 2.7 is a sweet little engine.

As long as it is not a rusty mess in the wheel arches, fenders, floors, etc -- sounds like a great price.

I would be doubtful of the mileage unless there is a significant paper trail.

But Lime green & plaid in a 74 sounds like an sweet combination.

Is it a Carrera, S or Normal? Either way, as described, pay the $33k and know that you got a great deal. Sounds like a great car. Please provide pics.

BTW, the 2.7 from 74 doesn't have the issues of later 2.7s. Pre
-thermal reactors and 5 blade fan.

Looks great, any interior shots?

Trust me, you won't miss any S advantage with this car.

Wow

I say buy it all day long. That looks like a very clean well kept car. Love the period color and seats as you described.

Yum. I'd love to own that car. Buy it.

rsnodgrass 08-19-2016 06:58 AM

I'd be interested in buying it if you don't.

Note the interior was likely changed as plaid interior in 1974 was only available in Madras plaids (red, blue or brown) and not the tartan plaids most of us are familiar with. Also, black interior was not available with plaids then.

Front fog lights have either been added or replaced as they were originally chrome for 1974.

Well worth that asking price. Looks tasty!

Buy the Lime Pie!

CountD 08-19-2016 03:01 PM

Man, in 2012 you probably could have bought this car for $10K.

Now it's the Holy Grail of midyear Targas with that color and all.

I think it's amazing. I would buy it - you probably only find a car like this a couple times a year - they are rarely offered because very few survived in this condition. Even in 2012 they were rare seeing how this example is so clean. So many were abused and parted as no one cared.

specialtyoneinc 08-19-2016 03:14 PM

Here's one for comparison.
