911 engine parts questions
 

Hello,
First, my apologies if this is the wrong area to post, I am not a Porsche owner. The "Porsche Marketplace Discussion", section seemed obvious to me. I have "inherited" some Porsche items which I have no idea if they have value or are just scrap. I haven't gone through everything yet. However, among the greasy parts is an engine block. It had had a receipt stuffed inside for $591.90 dated Feb, 8, 2007. So I assume that this block is worth at least that much, because the scrap aluminum value is only about $30. The receipt is from, Jone's Autowerks, INC. in San Antonio, TX. The only two items on the receipt are; "Clean & Resurface Case" and "Drill & Install 24 Case Inserts".

There are numbers which are casted into each side: "901.101.101.01" and "901.101.102.01". There are also some numbers stamped into one of the sides: "901/01", "3382" and "*903482*" (the asterisks are actually five pointed stars). There is also a box of bolts, some piston connecting rods & some other parts I don't recognize. All the stuff is currently located near Cleveland, Ohio.

My two questions are: Is there any market value for this? And if there is a market for this, where would I easily find it?

I took some photos of the block and numbers which I hope will help answer my question. If other photos are needed, please let me know as I'll be going out to the storage area this weekend. I'm storing the photos here: Google Docs.

Thanks for your understanding & assistance. I've also asked a co-worker who is a member of a local Porsche Owners club to see if he can help me track down some info.

It is at least worth 5000,- $ if not more. It is a very early engine case

Those Porsche workshop manuals are also valuable. Couple of hundred to several hundred if you have all the volumes....

Wow! Based on these responses and the PM's, I've learned that this stuff is worth considerably more than I had originally thought. I also did some research on 1966 911S stuff as advised. I added two more photos of the parts I could find to the Google Docs folder. Looks like there are more zip lock bags containing nuts & bolts.

I even got a PM from someone offering to buy all the engine parts, now I have to figure out how to box it all up.

MattR – I thought the workshop manuals looked cool so I brought them home. I have no idea if they are complete or not. There are only two binders. My son wanted to use the smaller 3-ring binder for school. I guess that won't be happening. I'll research these a bit more and find a place to sell them. Thanks!
