I’m looking to buy my first Air Cooled Porsche, something very nice, slant nose or turbo, low mileage, years 1986 to 1998, original paint preferred. Can anyone help me find one or lead me in the right direction?

Have any idea on what you are willing to spend? A nice low miles car with origional paint is going to be a little pricey. |

How would you go about helping someone who's limited perimeters could be anywhere from a 100k to 200k, for all we know he might be looking to spend 50k in which case he is wasting his time as well as anybody's who might try.
I have no problem helping someone out, but they have to participate, the person who started this thread so far really hasn't. |

everybody's got one
Went to my P club event yesterday and you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a 930.

I'm Looking to buy my first Turbo Air Cooled Porsche
A nice car (1976 to 1989) will cost $120,000 +.
There are hodgepodge 930s that can be had for as little as $60,000.. These cars need to be totally restored. You are looking at a $50,000 estimate or more on the light side if you are not missing parts**** I would advise anyone wanting a stock 930 to steer WAY FAR clear of any 930 missing a substantial amount of parts. This would entail any car missing The interior, Seats, Dash, Leather panels. Engine parts such as CIS, intercooler, Emissions, Exhaust, Ignition System. Twin plug ignition system cannot be reversed. 3.4/ 3.5/3.6 conversions often come with a host of other internal mods. Electronic fuel injection cost big $$$ to take off the car and more often than not you are missing so many other parts it makes it impossible to get all the parts without serious searching on the Internet. Buying a rough car with ALL THE STOCK PARTS present can make sense for the right price. Modded cars are best left Modded as these cars in most cases are missing big $$$ in parts that are VERY costly to come by today. Obviously Ruf, Andale,Kremer are cars that are worth way more than a stock 930 but these cars are not really consider "Modded". They are specialty cars which are highly prized and sought after by those in the know.

On the first page of classifieds now are two 930's at or below 80k that look very honest to me (from my laptop). In my book sub 120k miles is still "low" when you do the math and regardless ownership and maintenance history is far more important. Have fun.

Be careful and do a bunch of research. A 930 or any Air-cooled car can be a money pit. Tons of overpriced vehicles on the market. Lots of people trying to cash out because they have seen record sales in the past years.
Interesting to see where this original nice driver 86 Turbo ends up. 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo | Bring a Trailer |

I love the haters with the negative comments like:
how...."Everyone has one" or...."The market is flooded" We just saw a new record of $360,000 Set in Monterrey...! Granted had only 64 original mile's and was a garage queen, however; Any decent , clean car faxed, all original / COA'd / un-moded 930 is a buy. I turned down 90K for mine. Just stay with it. You will find a good one.
