I have searched countless threads but seems no source to compare to a replacement. I am trying to determine a fair value, any help appreciated.

Thanks for the comment.
Been travelling a bunch and finally had some time to dig in tonight. I did find it is steel frame/base, and bonded fiberglass. Removed the rubber trim and cannot locate a part number however. |

Did you throw a magnet on the inside frame?
From the picture the inside frame looks like its steel.

Yes, it is steel frame.

Steel frame and rubber wing would more likely indicate factory, not replica.

For 3L carreras and turbo's there seem to be a shortage of tails.
Think it has been many years, that one could not buy new fibreglass tail, nor the rubber lip. Jeff H.'s tail has no auxiliary grille hole, but it is easy to fabricate should someone want it for a 3L turbo restoration. Auxiliary grille for US 3L turbo is still possible to find new, also it is relatively inexpensive ($200-300). Of course there is always http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/527702-original-oem-tail-thread-collective-documentation.html For part-numbers, consensus is you may find some, or not. I have two tails, one has the number, the other I have not managed to find. A tell tale sign of a factory tail is, that it actually has steel frame around it, replicas likely to be all fiberglass. You can see the steel (iron) frame from this rough tail: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads16/75tail1266953278.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads16/75tail11266953378.jpg Try with a magnet, you will be surprised.

Thanks again for everyones' input and comments.
After going through the links and my own research I located where part number should be pressed. Removed the paint moments ago and found what I was looking for - PN# 911.512.010.07 Now to establish a asking price and will formally list in sale ads. I like to hold onto things but learned from my VW life that you run out of room. This will allow me to keep moving forward on my resto. ![]() |

There is a realistic price then a fantasy price ("big money" no sale)
Most of these listed are fantasy prices Check actual sold, closed to base a realistic price

Completely agree! I typically list parts to actually sell, ...that is the intent of a listing isn't it? Odd that some folks don't see it that way.

So what is real one worth?. Mine did have a metal frame, the guys that came to get it got pretty excited. Maybe I shorted myself maybe not either way. Is what it is.

I have a Weissach tail apart as well... restoring the car. The tail in question does not have the slight jog on the driver side inner tail. That same jog is on the Turbo tail for 76-77; I have one of those too.
WPOZZZ, what's the date, if nay, written by who might have assembled/inspected? Interested if it's the same assembly line engineer or fabricator signature. ![]() |

No idea on the date as I sold the car about 5 years ago.
