97 Porsches just @ Mucum Monterey

Between all the auctions this coming week with 97 Porsches just @ Mecum alone it should help establish where the market is now.

It would be interesting to see a chart/graph of how many Porsches have been offered at these auctions each year over the past 10-15 years.

This is one I am watching. High miles, recent full restoration, cool interior and no reserve. It has a lot of pluses combined with the negative of high miles. I think the interior makes the car interesting. The no reserve is a great attractor for where the market is now.
I do find it interesting how many "rare" cars of all makes are at Monterey for sale. And the auction estimates are all $200k to $1M+. How can theses cars be so rare and valuable if all I have to do is wait for the next auction?

Did I miss it or does the odometer say 10,956 miles?
Looks like a rare specimen to me.

Russo & Steele, not just Mecum has a lot of Porsches also. Not so much @ RM or Gooding ?? This week should be a good indication of current price trends.

Yeah, but 96 of them are clapped out hoopties. Or at least, that's what we'll hear if the results aren't strong.

They're all re-worked or cleaned up clapped-out hoopties at this stage of the game. There are very few exceptions!

Big Double D, one who thinks that under 11K miles is high, might be accused of being high (not that the odometer can be trusted - easy to change the numbers to whatever you want, buttofcourse).

These cars are the top 1% they should sell for premium. That doesn't translate to half the crap on here being worth more.

"From June 2015 until July 2016 this 930 received a total no expense spared cosmetic and mechanical restoration."

I assumed it had been turned over based on the 13 month full restoration that was done. Who needs to restore and install new interior on a 11,000 mile car? Was it used for a dog house?

Dammit. I missed that. I was confused by the red and blue plaid interior.
Are we sure Porsche put a 2 in that sixth digit. Maybe it rolls back to zero after 1.

^^^

Given that VDO put a odometer gear in there that turns to goo after a few years, and stops working, your digit voodoo idea might be a distinct possibility (as is the likelihood it was possibly driven for many years with an inop odometer)!

True. The second time I drove mine I had the brilliant idea to reset the trip odometer. I'll give you one guess as to what happened.

I wonder how many of those Mecum cars will sell?

I would expect a ton of "reserve not met".

Mecum is still a muscle car crowd. Probably a great place to buy a Porsche, but not a place to sell one.

Maybe they " muscle car crowd " do not know it yet but the 930 was a muscle car to beat back then, with any other current production car, including Vetts, Ferrari, Lambo's etc. Could be the dawn is coming for many of them @ Mecum auctions as in some recent sales, Mecum has had some decent sale results. Funny some old timers at car shows that have muscle car enthustiasts present still refer ( in jest?) to my 930 as a VW. Oh well, best just to smile, especially if I'm driving one with 600 or more HP.

searching past Mecum auctions turn up a lot of no sale. Also the sold ones have no sale price.
