Am I missing something on this one, or have 993 prices gotten this soft?

I've been watching 993 auctions for more than a year and don't understand this one. Photos and CarFax seem fine. This is a re-listing of an unsuccessful auction that just ended. I know some purists don't like 4's, but that hasn't stopped sellers - especially dealers - from asking a big premium for them. I don't recall any nice 6-spd coupe with decent miles sitting this long with a BIN under $50K + Make an offer. Am I missing something?

The market has softened up quite a bit right now, plus factor in the changing of the seasons as well as this election fiasco and it all adds up to being a good buyers market.

Just noticed a nice 98 993 cabriolet on Ebay for 39,999, it is a tiptronic but decent mileage etc. and looked clean. Be a good buy for someone.

The election fiasco again? So once it's official that Hillary won everybody's gonna go "**** YEAH!!! Let's buy some aircooleds!!!"? I really don't get it.

No matter how you slice it, it's 50 large for a 20 year old car. Makes just about everybody think.

As you state - doesn't stop sellers and dealers from asking big prices. Doesn't mean they're getting. And C4s just don't move as fast in the first place.

Auctions this summer showed 993s off about 15%.

I know several people still hoping for mid-$50s and going it alone.

964s not down, as near as I can see, and 996s up, so it's maybe that 993s were bubble-ish for a few years.

Not really softening on BAT.

From talks with other dealers and private sellers the consensus is the market in general is softening. In the 356 and early 911 world it started after Brexit and has continued steadily and slowly since.
My advice is if you are a private seller, put your car up for the winter and hope Spring picks up. If you are a dealer who over-bought, better enjoy your collection.
I'm hunkering down for the winter and working on long term stuff.

It was clear there was a slowdown, since earlier this year and it has ...

nothing to do with Brexit or what not.

I noticed right after Brexit that the European buyers were being very cautious. Guys that were buying 2-3 cars at a time previously were now beating me up on price for one car. Europe was a big driver for prices steadily rising and with those buyers retreating the market is feeling the pinch.

Yeah I'm not real sure either. I know the markets are a little bit nervous that Trump might actually win so maybe that's causing some apprehension?

I think it's more like the market is nervous because it's fairly certain that one of them will win!

Yes - S models still get a nice premium over base. Earlier this year I don't recall any quality S cars listed or sold as low as the $70K's.

i see C4's selling in the high 30 range to low 40s. this is overpriced. simple as that.

Didn't someone just sell a C4 on here with similar miles for low 30's in the same color? This looks like wishful thinking.

Interesting how Bee and that flesh-colored, mini-hearse have the same front ride heights - Baja or bust!
