82 SC Targa Time Capsule worth?
One owner car has 25,7xx original miles, Guards Red/Black. Completely serviced including new ARP head studs and new tires. Will have more info soon, curious what would be a fair asking price to actually SELL the car in today's market.
Thanks! ![]()

It's Guards Red. Everyone hates the car already.
![]() Pictures would help.

Think $59k is a fair asking price if the car super nice/original as described.

Sky's the limit. There are people who will just kill for a low mileage car.
And when I say sky, I'm thinking $50-60 plus plus. Personally I wouldn't pay those dollars, but somebody will.

![]() I've been on Pelican a long time, am not some full time scam artist/flipper, just had an honest question and wanted a general ballpark $$ based on the info (very little, I know) I gave. Thank you.

Thank you Nick, I was thinking along those lines as I see high mile cars going for $30-45K in "nice" shape. This may be the lowest mileage 82 targa out there, if not it's darn close!

I own a targa and always will but
I see the 50-60 as high. Small market Red Tail 45 - I know Holt had a not as low but low mileage 3.2 sit a long time in the hot time of the market and he had it low 40s I believe |

There are not a lot out there with this mileage. I know people always ding a Targa, but for the life of me I don't know why.
There are so few out there if the true mileage is what you say it is, it would be interesting to see what it would bring on BaT - with a reserve of course. Hope your flushing the tank/lines (or maybe even replacing the tunnel lines) as I have seen a lot of these go bad as of late from sitting. Also lots on that CIS will need to be gone through. Even with this, and if it's mint, I would agree $45K - $50K from what I have seen. Who knows though. |

I'll vouch for Gary. Car will be as he describes.
There seems to be a popularity with GR among 30 something's. I bet it brings over $60k but not to one of us old jaded farts.

And if it went for $60K it would still be a bargain if it's as described - because it wasn't cheap 35 years ago to begin with. The base was probably around $32K then, so it would be $82K in today's dollars, so at $60K it would be a bargain if you missed out buying one then.

I just went to see the car, it's been in storage since 1994 from what I was told. I think there has been some paintwork (-$$$), and it needs a major cleaning and refurbishing. I told the guy to fix the studs, get her cleaned up and go for $40k for a quick sale. If it were mine I would pull all rusty parts/blast/refinish, recover seats (PO and wife must have been a bit heavy), and take the time to make her look new again... I just don't have the time or inclination anymore.

Time is important. Gary how is that Cayman on the track? I'm very interested in what you say vs. anything old aircooled. I suspect it's pretty amazing.

Can't really compare. 911 was raw and quick, but was a LOT of work to drive really fast. The Cayman was easy to drive fast, but as it wasn't caged/harnessed I never pushed it close to 10/10ths. The Boxster is easy to drive, hard to drive fast. Still learning that platform. I've run a 1:00.752 in the 911 SC at Limerock, best in my first year (last year) was a 1:02.007 in the SPB. About same HP and weight, I get out of the SPB ready for more, the SC I would fall out of after 30 minutes of racing hard. ![]()
