1986 930 Slopenose RM Sotherbys Auction

1986 Porsche 911 Turbo 'Flat Nose' | Paris 2017 | RM Sotheby's

This 930, estimated to go between $107,000 and $140,000 seems inexpensive considering all the critical wants are checked... low miles..... special color..... red interior...... Auctioning today so no results yet........

On another note.... Wow ...... what an auction for a Porsche lover........

View Lots | Classic Car Auctions | RM Sotheby's

The 991R, 959S, 964RS, 996s all are the best of Porsche...... Wish I was in Paris today....

I'm thinking the slope nose will exceed the high guesstimate

I'd also be surprised if it doesn't. Neat color dark purple, red interior. Not a 505 or 506 so that may be a reason for a conservative estimate. Irregardless must be one of the last special wishes befor 87. Streaming live @ 6 pm tonight. 26 Porsches offered, many from a collection @ no reserve , so should be interesting. Also interesting as to what effect the dollar vs Euro is having on current prices realized.

Tony,

Euro is 1.07X to the dollar currently........ interesting indeed.....

There always seems to be quite a bit of kvetching about junk being auctioned..... very little junk in this one.....

11 of the 25 Porsches are no reserve. All no reserve seem to becoming from the same Swiss collection.

I was surprised to see the 05 Turbo S Cab estimated at Euro$75,000 to $100,000 (@1.07 USD$80,250 to USD$107,000). They are much more affordable in the US.

2005 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet | Paris 2017 | RM Sotheby's

How do you stream this auction? Is there a special way to log on? What time would the east coast time be; 7PM?

Thanks.

I corrected my post reserve vs no reserve. Also more Porsche's from this collection will be offered @ NR at the RM Sotheby's Amelia Island sale. Yes it seems the NR are from that swiss collection. R M Sotheby's sent me an email with that connection to log on. I do not know how to post it on Pelican. Send me your email via email and I will forward the email to you to open or repost here.

WOW, Porsche's not only getting estimates but many well over high estimate. Other cars ( some Ferrari's) in sale many NS well below low estimate.

In Europe unless the M505/M506 car is a last of the line 5-speed, the non-M505/506 cars have often gone for more money. They are recognised as true Special Wishes, as opposed to the M506 that was built on the main production line and finished by Special Wishes. I think that the estimate was way too low. Two cars sold last November in the UK at the Silverstone Auctions sale for north of £203k and £212k GBP ($254k & $265k USD)

I am eagerly awaiting the results in the morning too.

If the general rules of the collector are low miles, low production, then certainly this car should have gone for more as you noted, which also was my original observation. My thoughts when watching the auction were, that not everyone, especially the new to Porsche knowledge, might know. In short someone stole this one from the buyers that did not know. Also like with muscle cars, AC Cobra and in some cases the Ferrari world, there are many more out there than that were built of certain models. It's a safer bet especially with little time to have it verified by an independent expert that a 505 506 will be real. Even then many do not know what to look for, especially in a early special wishes version. All in all with most Porsches not only getting low estimate, but in some cases exceeding ( utterly destroying ) high estimates. I'd much rather, as a seller, have had Porsche's in this auction than any other brand. The auction company RM & Sotheby's will now be more aware of the increased interest in Porsche's than some of the other offerings that seem to have had their day before this sale.

Slantnose was my childhood dream car and I still would take one over standard - and not as a collector but purely for bad-ass aesthetics
