1999 Porsche Carerra 2 for sale $10,000

Found this listing for the 99 Carerra. Standard trans - not much in the way of bells and whistles - red in color 124,000 on the engine taken in as trade - private owner - haven't looked at it yet so i don't know if any records exist. Think it's worth buying if in decent shape. Can work on it which is a plus - would think would that many miles the IMS isn't an issue. Input appreciated.

Try 996 forum?
Good luck. 996's are a great bargain, and wonderful cars. Very different from the air-cooled models; in some ways better, in some ways worse.

Thanks for the reply. Presently own a 1999 Carerra that i have been driving for the last several months. It had the IMS replaced along with the water pump and alternator. Love driving it alomg with the 1997 Boxster and 78 911 Targa. Have a 71 Tiumph TR6 that i am going to put up for sale that i went through and serviced. New interior among other things.

Was considering getting a Cayenne to round off my collection but i think this may be a better buy seeing that i do have a Kia Soul for my back up.

Lots of car for 10K. Not a lot of love for the face / headlights / same look as Boxster cost savings era cars. Relatively easy IMS fix. Probably lots of fun in an unloved car.

I have not seen that one locally, but I have been sort of looking. I figure at that price you could get a $6K junkyard motor if the IMS fails and go for a few more years. Probably not worth jumping in and swapping the IMS as a preventative.

I just wish there was a better solution to cool the oil for track work.

Don't know that this is a "I can't pass this up it's such a good deal" price. It's cheap but cheap 996s are coming. You have a 996. Why do you want another?
