993 c4s
Been out of air cooled for a couple of years but just sold my 991 and want to find an air cooled to hopefully keep long term. I'm looking at the 993 C4S as a "it will never be worth less" car.
Prices are all over the map. I've seen low 60s to well over 100k. I'm not looking for a garage queen so am more interested in cars with some mileage. I've found a 97 C4S with just under 100k on the clock. It's not 100% stock (aftermarket exhaust, wheels, etc) but nothing that can't be reversed if I wanted. Does have factory hard back sport seats. I'm still getting info engine work and if a top end has ever been done but I don't believe it has a top end so that may be a concern with a variorum car. Assuming good condition, good ppi, what's the opinion of the group on value a good, non stock C4S with close to 100k miles? Also, I'm only looking at manual cars so this car is not a tip. Appreciate opinions.

I just started looking myself for possibly adding an air-cooled car to my garage. What I have seen is it looks like the 993's have stabled out or maybe even gone down slightly the past year or so. The 964's years ago when I owned my '88 Coupe were worth nothing, I am shocked how much they go for now. It seems like 964's and 87-89 G50's stock are taking the same route the 993's took a few years ago. Anything Turbo is ridiculously priced.
I think the asking prices are just that, most of them are wishful thinking, I noticed when it is priced to sell they go fast, when they ask the crazy amounts it just sits on all the for sale websites. My thought is they will hold their value, but I do not see them going up much, if at all. If the economy tanks again they could go down substantially. Good luck!!!!! Just my 2 cents

Sorry I never answered your question, I would say $55-60K. Under $55K and I think it will probably have some issues, over $60K should be stock and less miles in my opinion (unless it has been rebuilt with a new clutch recently).

Here's a comp (I know eBay isn't the best resource but looks like this one sold)

That looks like a very fair comp, since it is stock and looks VERY clean I think that was a fair price for the seller and buyer. Also the service book is very thorough.

Thanks for the input and the comp. I always forget about ebay. It feels like a high 50s to low 60s car.
Not sure if it would be better to just look at standard 993. They seem like a good buy right now compared to 87-89 G50 cars.

Agreed standard 993's are the ones I think have settled a little the past year or so. Besides the wide body it is in most folks opinions a better car and it is definitely a better deal.
Knock $10K off minimum for a regular 993 IMO.

There's a couple standard 993s on rennlist in the 100k mileage range. They asking 50ish but I don't think they're selling. A 95 has been for sale since October. It seems like 100k standard 993 should be a high 30s to low 40s car.

I've been thinking about selling my 96 C4S with factory aerokit and hardback sport seats. Pricing has been everywhere. Mileage 83K, some aftermarket parts etc.. Car located in LA. Was thinking of listing it for $65K for a fast sale but not sure if this is a good price for me or the buyer since price points are all over.

I'd say around $75 for a nice car, well sorted. You can find some in the $60s but they need some work.

There is a Nice '98 C2S in the 70's on either Rennlist or Pelican, I would think that would be a lot more desirable then the C4S.

Yes, I'd prefer a C2S but seem hard to find compared to C4Ss. The white C2S that is for sale for 70k is a tip. I'd be all over it if it was a manual
