Real barn/garage find. Need identification help please
Hey gang,
I received a text yesterday from a guy who knows a guy and he has this car for sale. The middle guy has no idea what it is other than a porsche...... I realize that there is very slim going on as far as information but what year range does this car appear to be. Any idea as far as value knowing nothing other than the interior doesn't have any rips. Any info would be huge as I am mostly a 944 guy but am always on the lookout for something fun! ![]()

Thanks guys, Jack, what would be a "no-brained price" in your opinion?

I agree with everything said from above. Integrated fog lights make this car a 3.2. Looks like the later seats from 85-89 also.
Assuming the mechanicals are good with good exterior/interior condition, $40k-$60k depending on a lot of variables. Under $40k is a good buy. Under $30k is a give away.

Thanks so much guys! I will let you all know what happens.
Please keep the opinions coming. The more information I have the better I feel about trying to make this happen. Thanks

87-89: easily $40k+ if under 150k miles 84-86: $34k+ if under 150k miles If you can't get info on the drive train, a no-brainer price is low-$20's, but you'll have every flipper on the planet crawling over you trying to steal the car at that level. Frankly, without being able verify motor and tranny I would probably walk away regardless. The days of $5k top ends are gone. If a G50 and the tranny is toast (0.1% chance) and the motor is wrecked, you're looking at a $30k bill from a shop. Color and puffy headrest on the car suggest it could be an anniversary edition. While that trim package adds zero value, the fact that it would signify an '89 does. Plus 5%. Good luck! |

I think the two posts above with pricing are on the high side. I don't think anyone is going to pay $40k for that car if it has 140-150k miles. Below 80k miles might get you into the 40s. Take a look in the FS section here, there are several late 911s with mileage from 70k to 200k. If it has a fresh rebuild on both the motor and tranny with higher mileage that will probably add $10-15 in value.

I'm basing my statement on the number of 1983-1989s listed In the classifieds and on EBay for the pricing you have listed that have numerous bumps because they're not selling with high miles and high prices optimistic owners have in mind.
My opinion of Hagerty is that they have skin in the game and are very optimistic. Take a look at closed sales and use that for your basis of pricing. |
