Sotheby's RM Porsche's not so bad
Porsche air cooled Market soft?? A Black 2005 Carrera GT @ $700K. Wait, a 74 Carrera 3.0 RS for $1.250K! These old homologation air cooled stuff can still bring big numbers. Also a 73 carrera RS 2.7 lightweight gets $790K. 97 Turbo S @ $280K seems weak vs the other prices. Considering this is Amelia Island Florida not Pebble or Scottsdale these prices do not seem like a AC Porsche market in decline. Another Carrera Gt, a better silver color in my opinion, but a 2004 only gets $550K.

Light weight and 94 speedster were well bought for sure. Turbo S had to have some story attached.

wasn't the RM 94 speedster a mint green tiptronic ?
|
94 was a Tiptronic and looked to be stored outside its life.
73 Lightweight was in need of recondition. 74 RS was original Paint and a Company Demo Car. With goo history. 944's were Nice and Clean 65 Was skeptical 69 Sportomatic was really nice with Low miles. One Carrera GT was nice the other was ok. GT3 and @ RS Were Nice But keep in mind Most of the Porsches at RM were part of a Swiss Collection so you had a 10% buyer fee PLUS a 2.5% import tax so add 12.5% to buy price. Just to clear most of the speculators out there. |
That really nice blue RS went off on eBay last week for $477,100 - it was a touring with some mods but it was a sweet deal.

^^^ With hard work and a little luck I hope I'll have enough money someday to spend $500k on an old Porsche and tell my wife it was a "Sweet Deal". :D
Her favorite comment now when she sees parts invoices for the 930 is "You paid how much for a car that needs all this work?" |
