Looking to purchase my first 911T long horn
Hi Guys!
I'm looking to purchase my first long horn, I was wondering if you guys can give me some input on it? It's a 1973 porsche 911T a CA car, Gemini blue, from photos the body looks very solid, I see no Rusts, beside surface rust on the battery tray, floor very solid, has the CA blue license plate (which I don't think you can request from DMV until it came with it) I know the black plate are now easily available, my concerns is it doesn't come with any History's or Docs, No COA, Engine #6135162, Tranny# 7152066, from my research I think the engine correct era and tranny not, Correct me if I'm wrong? I know I have to get the COA to match the #, but I'm thinking it isn't. Asking is $65K, what do you guys think? Are the engine and tranny correct era? What value would you place on something like this if it's not a matching# with very Solid body? Doesn't have to be a 73, I can still work with either a 69-73 long horn, Which is the best year to get? What the extra plus? What the prize one between those years? I know the S model the best, but my pocket not there, Any opinion or suggestions would be GREAT! Thanks in advance! |

Never take a tranny to the Long Horn, even if she/he/it has a nice body and is called Gemini. You'll get the blues!!

The name for this forum should be changed from 'Market Place Discussion' to 'Funny Porsche Dudes at Open Mic Night.' Seriously guys, this thread is funny, and that's why I like it here. I visit for wisdom sure, but I'd rather laugh some days... |

Longhorns get around even more slowly than 356s and 912s (except for NastyNicks's longhorn, so I hear!) - might as well walk instead.

Long horns are getting popular, but I went with a louder horn from a '78 Pinto....

Back to the original question... $65,000 is a heck of a lot for a 911T. I know the market has softened so I don't know where T values are at but I couldn't stomach that much for a "T" (and I like 911Ts just fine).

I agree with this one. First 911 I ever drove was a '73 T. It made an impression on me for sure. $69K is a lot of money for an old car. My '75S is an old car, but it doesn't drive as old as a '73 T. I'd rather have a more modern aircooled 911 from the '80s. They are better cars in the '80s - and still have the same spirit - and save myself $30K.

$60-$65k these days is ENTRY level for a decent/original "driver" 911T. They only go up from there. Projects of course will be less but that's not what we're talking about. People can say all they want here about how $65k is a lot for a T, but the reality is that you cannot find a decent original driver 911T anymore under 60k.
