Phony Dealer Ad for "M491"

This is just so irritating. A dealer has an advertisement on Hemmings for a 1986 Carrera wide body conversion that they are calling "M491" ... To use their words, "the uniqueness of this car is that the M491 conversion was done post factory by a dealership to give it the turbo look. " The mileage is advertised as being 8,500 or so, but photos of the engine compartment clearly show a fan that has been refinished... unlikely, it seems to me, on a 8,500 mile car (!)

Sheesh...

Sort of like saying "the uniqueness of this car is that the convertible conversion was done post factory by a dealership to give it the cabriolet look."

We can't all be Porsche experts, but you sorta expect it from a dealer advertising in Hemmings. ; )

Wide wheels... small brakes... clean car. Be interesting to see it up close.

Thanks.
This ad isn't fraud. The car isn't fake. The ad clearly states it is an m491 conversion. It's like someone selling a 73T as an RS replica.

I kind of like it. Looks clean. Amazing wording in the ad... "tight steering and easily shifted gear box located confirm the original miles of just 8500."

Even better, they have the option code wrong. 491 is turbo look. That's a 505 slant nose conversion
