I would buy the best maintained one I could find. They are out there. Check the Rennlist form.

Just spotted the same one, only 993 listed in Autotrader in the US for $40K or less.

That is a very open ended question. 40K in the 993 coupe world is a bit of a stretch unless you get one that needs lots of work.

I'm a bit more confused by your question of "which one would you buy?" As in which 993 coupe? How many 993 coupes did they make? Are you looking for a year to buy? At 40K you don't really have much of a choice, you get the one you find, then deal with the issues. You may be able to find one for less but it will have problems, heck just a scan of Ebay tells me you are going to be hard pressed to find one in that price range.

I think you are SOL at $40K on a 993 coupe. Unless you find one that has title issues, wrecked etc... even then these cars are worth a ton of $$ in parts - motor and transmission alone are worth $20K++

Good Luck.

Here is one for under 40K, might be a scam

https://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/cto/d/1996-porsche/6298670044.html

1996 Porsche 911 993. Beautiful car with 78k miles. 6 speed manual. Non turbo. Drives and shifts perfect. No dings or dents. Paint is in good shape. Interior is nice, with the exception of rip on driver side seat. I dont have the original wheels. The whale tale is most likely an aftermarket. Has a small oil leak from the pan. AC works and blows cold. Please don't waste my time. This is a high end car for high end buyers. No trades, I don't need help selling the car. If you have no intentions of buying the car, do not contact me. I only had this car for a year, I don't know much of the history of it. I have no idea when things were replaced. Unfortunately, no service records. Having these things in mind, thats why my 911 is priced lower than others. Other than that, feel free to contact me and email me with your name and number from the reply button above. This car is in southern California and I will help you any way i can. Firm on price. Clean California title

Sure. Esp. if you are counting actual sales price, as compared to asking.

They will be even more common in 6 months, and very common in a year.
