Ballpark value of a 71 911E 2.2 Motor
Plan on listing this soon but have a wild guess-range on the value. Anyone have a idea what a fair-reasonable value would be? Its a 71 911E-C motor (Engine # 911/01, Serial 6210750, was running until there was a timing chain issue on 1 side (broke?). Looks to be 95% complete and was running with a good looking pair of dual Zenith 40 TINs. Pistons/cylinders measure at 84mm so the 2.2 lines up. Thanks in advance for any help.

Too bad wasn't my original motor. My engine number is an earlier one. 6210154

Number matching
Wouldn't it have the most value to the guy with numbers matching chassis?
Any way to find that? |
seafeye, shoot pretty close. Off by 596 vehicles.... Think they made 12,164 in 1971 so that puts it within less than 5% of the run to yours. What month was yours produced?

9/70. I was about to turn 2 years old. I located the original one for my car. It's in Norway. And has been modified to twin plug etc...
One day I might be able to buy it from the guy. I have the original transmission. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1501355605.jpg |
Did you look on the 911E registry? Might give some clues to what car it belongs to.

Good question what all those parts are worth. I would like to know, since I have a hotrodded, good running 2,2 (now 2,5) for sale.
Too bad it doesn't have the MFI. It would sell in a flash. If you do find what car it belongs to, we would like to know. |
If it's reasonable I might be interested and am local. I need the original for my 71 but I don't think that will ever happen so one that is just 107 off might be a decent compromise.

No injection and in pieces, with some pieces missing? $3-5k.
|
Thanks Matt, I was thinking right in the middle of your range. Having the MFI would definitely of added value, I sold a few sets for a local shop years ago for about $4k per set.
|
Thanks Seafeye, looked on the 911E registry and don't know if there is a 1 to 1 relation between VIN and Engine number, if its a 1:1 relation (each time the VIN goes up by 1 the engine goes up by 1) then the motor is right in between 2 cars registered on the site.
I forgot to mention in the original post I have the exhaust as well. Prior to listing it I looked on e bay as a final check, after regaining consciousness I settled on $4750 asking (with the exhaust) and posted it in the classifieds. cvlcporsche I sent you a PM, if you are local and interested let me know. |
