I'd have aired up the Left Rear tire before taking photos...

...real professional

As a buyer I'd likely pass on the car from these guys on that alone, wondering what other not so glaringly obvious flaws had been overlooked in spirit of a quick profit.

Rob-u-bay will get their 10% on the sale price & the shipping so the 10k markup will make them 5k in the end if the get the full asking price.

Not really a great return on investment now is it?

They won't actually sell it through EBay. They are just advertising it there.

Not at all... I am a free markets guy... hell I was a flipper for 20 years I just did it on the exchange floor. If he can turn it for 10 g's good for him.

The only reason I post stuff like that is its a heads up, make sure the current seller is not jumping title and make sure you understand he just got the car so he doesn't know much about the history. I know the original seller, I have seen that car in person, its a nice well done car.

I think it's still just a fairly low fixed fee to list a car, pay the fee (was $45 when I listed a car), list it for a day or a month, doesn't matter, cheap advertising, no additional fees when it sells.

Edit: it's been awhile, looks like its up to about $125 now, less if you are a high volume dealer

Ebay Motors wouldn't exist if nobody sold cars there. There's exceptions to every rule. Clearly we have no way to determine statistics, but I would hazard a guess that upwards of 90% of dealer listings on Ebay do not sell through Ebay.

If you're a dealer you pay a flat fee and you get X number of listings per month. The fee varies depending on whether you run an auction, a no reserve auction, a national listing, a national listing with a buy it now, a national listing with a buy it now and send an offer or just a local listing. The fee also varies depending on the length of time you want to list for.

Just as an example if you wanted 25 listings which last for 21 days and have a buy it now or make me an offer the cost for the month is around $4500.

Don't forget that Ebay Motors is not just vehicles its all the parts and all the gear and all sorts of car and bike related items, thats the real juice for eBay Motors. They would exist if cars didnt sell and in fact huge percentages of the listed cars dont sell through eBay, its just a place to get sales leads from.

Lots of dealers will make deals outside of eBay and then either ask you to complete the deal through eBay and have you leave them good feedback or they will give you a kickback if you do. Some dealers have been known to strong arm people into retracting negative feedback and / or other shady stuff to make their feedback score look good. I am not calling anyone out but there is a dealer well known on this board who has been known to pull some really slimy stuff out of Houston. They think they're scoring a Victory.

An ex eBay rep told me some pretty low things some dealers do to pump up their feedbacks. They sell hot wheels and list them on ebay motors and then have their buyers say "thanks for the awesome deal on the (insert name of car here)" after a few months you cant click on the item anymore and you'd assume since they are a car dealer they sold that buyer a real car. Thats also how dealers bump up their count on eBay.

Doubt it. Each ebay sale in feedback lists what the vehicle went for.

This is a nice car. I traded notes with the owner with interest but opted for a local car with about same miles/condition/price

Isn't the current seller a dealer ?

The original seller must be happy to sell it after 6 months.
Sorry, I don't get the scorn being shown here.
