993 Coupe with History Value

1996 993 Black Coupe manual with sunroof. 70K miles. Not much in the way of records, but CarFax shows the commensurate timeline of scheduled maintenance to match mileage.

CarFax does not list an accident where it got hit in the ass and repainted. I can't see evidence of damage or paint and I don't know if whole car got painted or just the damaged area. Original black car. Owner is honest and upfront, but accident happened before he owned it so doesn't truly know how bad the hit was.

Engine needs to be dropped for full valve job and take care of some leaks.

All items work fine: windows, sunroof, AC, etc. Interior is in great shape with slight wear on driver bolster. All black interior. No mods I can tell other than an aftermarket muffler. Tires could probably be changed due to age.

How bad does the hit in the rear effect value? Is a full engine drop at a shop for new seals and valves equal about $10K?

Also, do these 993s have weak suspension that wear out at about 75K miles and need replacement? It drives fine to me, but someone recommended 993s respond nicely to suspension upgrades from stock.

Probably worth upper 30k range. Really depends on the extent of the accident and how healthy the engine is. If it was a fully sorted driver it would be worth $45k plus. Get a extensive PPI from a independent aircooled specialist. Paint meter, and compression test should tell you allot.

I bet it's worth more than mine, I paid $5000.

It's at the body shop now.

Many will say that the suspension is worn out after 30k on these cars. I had one with 60k and it certainly was. Additionally, many don't like the factory high ride height. So it needs suspension, tires and a top end? That could be $15k plus whatever else it needs. Unless its a smoking deal I would keep looking.
