PPI request Austin TX 78726

Hi. I am new to the forum, introduced by a friend. I am looking for help with a pre-purchase inspection for a 911S in Austin TX. Thanks in advance!

Not sure this helps but perhaps a starting place
Jones motorwerks or something in SAn Antonio may have suggestion for Austin but the two are 70 per so miles apart
Another contact is SA is Mark Heard ...he is 914 guy
Check 914 world or 914sixer......last one contact Ed Mayo in Mayo performance in Bedford ...he will surely have a suggestion
Good luck

There are multiple reputable Porsche Shops in Austin,
Moorespeed
TPWS
Northwest Imports
To name a few...

TPWS is just ok as a shop and would be my last choice for a PPI in Austin.

Moorespeed is great but they're not Porsche specialists.

Northwest Imports is an OK choice for the later cars, I suppose. I wouldn't being them an early car.

The best Porsche shop within 100 miles is Jones Autowerks in San Antonio but they don't like to do PPI's.

Austin is a tough town for this service. Couple other options depending on the car/location. PM me if interested and I may be able to help. I own a private Porsche restoration facility in Austin.

ATX Autosport

I'm not sure how far New Bedford is from Austin but Zims Autotechnik is very good. Good luck!

Eagle Porsche (Dripping Springs) is the best, by far, in Austin. Steve is the owner. On same level as Jones in San Antonio without the long drive on I-35

It's Eagle Racing, not Eagle Porsche, but you're correct that Steve is a very talented mechanic - by far the best in Austin. I wouldn't, however, compare him to Jones. They're very different shops and there are things on the early cars that Steve prefers not to work on. I'm also unsure if Steve does PPI's. I know Jones generally doesn't do them anymore.

I don't think Steve would do a PPI. If I remember correctly, when I visited his shop, it's not a regular "fix or repair" shop....

Thanks John for the clarification; Eagle Racing. I will agree with you that they are different shops (Jones handles way more volume), but expertise wise, I’d say Steve & Bob are fairly equal. Over the past 10 years, i’ve taken multiple long hoods and IBs to Jones. Only started using Steve recently since my move, but I know that he cares for a large collection owned by a very particular collector.

All semantics to the OP. You can’t go wrong either way.

Both great. I agree. I think Steve's beyond brilliant and consider him a friend. I've had a permanent spot on his shop floor for my cars for a long time. If you've been there in the past several years, you've seen at least one of my cars.

When I said I wouldn't "compare him to Jones" I wasn't implying anything negative. I just meant that they both have their specialties. I use both Steve and Bob regularly for jobs I don't want to tackle myself and, like all mechanics, they have their likes/dislikes. Steve, as a random example, doesn't particularly like to mess with early carbs. Bob, on the other hand, will spend hours adjusting your Solexes. It pays to get to know your mechanics.

Just different guys but two of the very best in Texas. We're lucky to have them.

I would just take it to Moorespeed. It’s a ppi not a restoration.
