Victory Motors - '83 SC Cab - VIN # WP0EA0914DS170189

This was an interesting car that appeared on Pelican in the last couple of weeks:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/979304-original-owner-83-911sc-cab-62k-miles-32k-obo.html .

The seller mentioned that there were some potential motor (topend) issues.

It appears that Victory purchased the car and IMMEDIATELY put it on the market.

https://houston.craigslist.org/ctd/d/1983-porsche-911-sc-guards-red/6416294584.html .

No mention of potential motor issues in either ad. Hmmm. Perhaps they made all of the repairs in less than 24 hours?

I missed the mention........ thought it was under priced for a relatively low mileage car.....

I spoke to the seller last weekend. Looked like a nice car and an '83 SC cab holds appeal for me. At that time it was at Victory for a "PPI" which I think meant that they were evaluating it to purchase themselves and they had offered $26K as is for it. It supposedly ran well except for a stumble at low RPM and fairly excessive oil burning one warmed up which could have been any number of things. The seller was of the opinion that it had been repainted completely once in the past and looked good with a few small areas of overspray visible. It had spent 8-9 years at another shop for undisclosed repairs that may not have been completed. It was supposedly not affected by the flooding in that area earlier this year but came with no records as they had been lost in the flood. Based on how quickly Victory brought it to market I doubt anything was done other than to list it. A nice car for the right person at the right price but there's a lot of info that Victory is not passing along to prospective buyers...

The old dealer bought a car they did a ppi on trick. Wonder if it actually needed engine work or was that used to scare the seller to dump it to the dealer?

Interesting. So, it sounds like they either low-balled the seller due to a "fake" issue OR there's a real issue that they're not disclosing in their ads. It's too bad that they picked it up instead of someone else.

Victory's rep goes back many years here and its not pretty. They've been quiet the last few years. Robert Neal over there was the one who sent the phony Cease and Desist messages to people on Rennlist. Supposedly from his lawyer to people on Rennlist through their PM box. LOL Real official. At one point they were exposed for being in cahoots with local PPI shops. They also bought old service records and stamped books off eBay for their cars. All of that was years ago and I had heard they were a lot cleaner these days.

In the Lux vs. Victory faceoff... Yikes

Whatever the ad was, it's deleted.
