That's a lot of money. I don't know why so many people were cheering this on. A good car, but not a great car.

Comes down to what some people would do and what I wouldn't. I would have waited for a better car for this money.

$56K + BAT 5%= $58,800 + ~7.5% sales tax = $63,210 + ~$1K shipping if not local = Really close to $65K! That's one pricey G50 G body.

If the buyer is on NC, they will only need to pay 3% highway use tax to NC DMV upon registration.

Then there will be the annual property tax bill depending on location.

I thought my Slate Blue color was better than Venetian, but I may take that back after looking at those pics. Although, I've always thought Petrol Blue was the best in this color area.

Hate to say it, but at that price or a bit more I'd rather have something more exotic.

I've sold a few Porsches.

In my experience "Porsche people" tend to be far more sensitive to miles on cars than people new to the marque.

Venetian/Linen is not for everyone, but at least 2 people thought it was worth fighting for...

Did the 88 have a recent rebuild? Don't see any mention or documentation.

Feel like this example is good comp of the market.

I watched both the '88 and the '89 noted above go through on BAT with interest as I have an '89, no spoilers, slate grey carrera. This goes to show (yet again) that the pictures included in a BAT listing go a long way towards stirring emotions oi the crowd, also towards minimizing the nit pickers who throw up comments for the sake of it. The listing, seller participation and supporting images for the '88 should be the gold standard for how to sell a 911 (or anything) on BAT. The $56k cost is strong money for what seems to be a really solid driver but I bet if one put the '89 and the '88 side by side in the harsh light of day and the '89 would show cleaner.

I don't know if it's the miles we care about. Miles don't matter - $63K is a lot for this car. I would have thought this money was a lot if it had 75K on it - half of what it has.

I would save my money. For this price I could get a Ferrari 355, ahemmm, - which is really, really an awesome car once the manifolds and other things are sorted. If you have ever driven one you know what I mean.

If you got the dough...

I respectfully but firmly disagree. The non matching re-dyed seat color, non original steering wheel and, in my opinion, a guestionable quality respray etc... on the 89 are all deal breakers for me. What is the real history of this car? That is what lurks in the back of my mind. The 88 represents an honest, original, well cared for car. These are hard to find and you will pay a premium.

Nice pictures really, really help sell cars. Let that be a lesson to those who are too lazy to even pull their car out of the garage for photos. I agree that is nuts for that car. Emotions can really strangle common sense when it comes to car buying.......

The '89 had a fully documented $20K respray and a $16k mechanical refresh of recent vintage. Unless I missed something the '88 did not appear to have the same level of documentation, plus the front end had been resprayed which one can see that the level of prep on the front end was only ok...in the end presentation plays a heavy part on BAT. The wheels on the '89, plus the steering wheel and the seats lose points but there is little chance the '88's seats are original after 150,000 miles, albeit far better done.

Anyway these guys definitely know how to offer a car for sale, the 912 on BAT is theirs too and it is a beauty.
