Never, ever buy a car with flood damage. Gremlins will be with you forever.

I've have witnessed, seen, and otherwise known very enthusiastic individuals try to save myriad Ferraris, Porsches, Maseratis, and other well known brands from flood damage and they all failed.

I have seen Ferrari engine cases corrode before my eyes when I was able to personally check on a Ferrari collection that had been flooded in Long Island. It was not a pretty sight. Those cars went to people who thought they could save them. Five years down the road those cars pretty much 1) Rusted from the inside out, 2) The wiring disintegrated completely, and 3) the interior held such horrific smell that it smelled much like the bowels of a fish hatchery.

I would never do it. The savings is not worth it. You cannot save it.

The one thing you can save on this car is the tail though.

Wonder if the previous owner removed the original high dollar whale-tail and replaced it with the cheapo wing just before insurance towed it away? Slick...

Yeah, that would completely make sense now that you mention it.

I’m surprised the owner didn’t buy it back. Maybe too heartbroken. If it was me I would need a six figure check to not buy it back and just let it go.

A friend called the auction house about the car-he found that the auction is geared toward salvage yard type bidders. They said that the car came from the Houston area. I wonder if that means it was salt water flooded?

Highly doubt it. Galveston is a solid 45 minutes south of town.

I imagine this is simply a victim of Harvey rolling through and decimating our city a few months back.
